Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would never be caught doing what the mom in this video did

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was roundly mocked for staging a photo op at the border in a pristine white outfit.

While she cried crocodile tears about supposed “kids in cages” when Trump was in office, don’t expect her to say a thing about the nightmare that just happened a blue border state.

And it’s hard to picture her going above and beyond like this mom whose real-life nightmare was caught on camera.

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to have something happen to their children.

Sadly, as crime rates skyrocket, the most vulnerable among us are often disproportionately impacted.

And a New Mexico mom went above and beyond to save her kids after this crazy crime.

Melody Maldonado is a 33-year-old librarian from Hobbs, New Mexico, and on Independence Day she was caught on camera, heroically holding onto the hood of her car to stop a carjacker who drove off with her 11-month-old son and six-year-old autistic daughter.

Maldonado says that fear was the furthest thing from her mind as she clung to the car and screamed for the accused thief to stop.

Maldonado said, “She definitely heard me. I yelled for her to stop and that my kids were in the car. She kept driving. We went a good distance, through an intersection, past the Allsup’s. She was swerving so that I would fall off. I didn’t care what happened to the car. I just wanted my kids back.”

After a while, she was thrown from the car and she broke her foot but still managed to quickly get to a convenience store and call for help.

Maldonado told the police that her phone was in the car and could be used to track its whereabouts.

The alleged carjacker, Regina Castillo, age 29, dropped off six year-old autistic Ma’Rey on a random street where the child was found by people living nearby and kept safe.

“She left my daughter on the street because my daughter had a phone and she thought that they were tracking her with the phone,” Maldonado said.

Castillo abandoned the SUV at an intersection leaving 11-month-old Mikah inside.

She tried to flee on foot, but was later tackled by police and arrested.

The entire sequence of events lasted 20-30 minutes and started when Maldonado stopped into the convenience store to buy a baby bottle, leaving the kids in the car for a moment.

After she left the store, she headed back to the car, but Castillo was waiting at the exit and walked with her to the car.

After the mother unlocked the driver’s side door, Castillo pushed her aside with the keys and jumped into the Hyundai.

That’s when Maldonado jumped on the hood of the car.

Luckily the children were unharmed.

Castillo had three active warrants for failure to appear in court for concealing her identity, shoplifting and traffic violations at the time of her arrest, and she is expected back in court for this case on July 18th.
