Home prices have gotten out of control in America.
Even a modest 2-bedroom home can cost homebuyers well over a million dollars in many parts of the country.
And home buyers are furious after this lavish homeless camp goes viral.
Homeless camps have gotten more elaborate as homeowners and homebuyers struggle
For many homeowners and homebuyers, inflation has wreaked havoc on their bottom lines.
Not to mention all of the red tape and costs that come with even the simplest of home improvement projects.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles in particular, homeless camps have gone viral for their elaborate nature.
According to The New York Post which reacted to newly released footage from KTLA helicopters, “Homeless Californians built a house complete with rock walls, a garden, a barbecue grill, a hammock, decorative string lights, potted plants and working electricity on a strip of land wedged between a busy freeway and the Arroyo Seco in Los Angeles.”
This strip of land sits on what Los Angelenos call the “Dry River” which is technically public land.
The “Dry River’s” status as public land makes it much harder for city officials to do anything about it.
One local named Mike Ancheta voiced his outrage over the encampment while admiring the craftsmanship that went behind it.
Per Ancheta to KTLA, “This doesn’t belong here. This is public property.”
“But this is not what it’s supposed to be used for. This is dangerous. As you can see, someone is cooking out there, an open fire. They are stealing electricity. I mean, come on,” the fed-up Angelina charged.
As Ancheta pointed out to KTLA, these people are more likely than not stealing electricity from the city as hardworking Angelinos struggle to pay their exorbitant energy bills.
These sorts of elaborate homeless compounds also decrease the value of nearby properties, adding even more pain to locals.
To make matters worse, homeless camps similar to this have a reputation for serving as hotbeds of drug use and crime.
In Los Angeles and other West Coast cities, locals know to stay far away from these camps.
Horror stories have emerged of homeless people emerging from these camps to assault or take advantage of passersby.
Yet, as it stands, city officials do not seem ready to act anytime soon in regard to this camp.
California homeowners have every reason to be outraged with their elected officials
In Los Angeles in particular, owning a decent home costs an eye-popping amount between taxes and expensive utilities among other factors.
Meanwhile, homeless camps pop up everywhere, allowing people to do whatever they please without fear of repercussions.
Time and time again these camps become hubs for crime and drug use.
Many homeowners in Los Angeles and elsewhere feel outraged as they pay boatloads of taxes to fund a government that allows people to siphon electricity and do as they please.
