A small number of actors and musicians refuse to be part of the woke culture, but they usually don’t make the national news.
However, some of these famous folks are making it clear that they’re fed up with the California lifestyle.
Now this rapper just left Hollywood, but he’s not the first famous person to do the very same thing.
50 Cent heads to Louisiana
Curtis Jackson, whose “rapper name” is 50 Cent, just announced he plans to open a new film studio — but instead of opening it in Hollywood, he’s chosen Shreveport, Louisiana as the location.
50 Cent’s decision is just one made by many stars who have recently decided to move out of Los Angeles and the Hollywood area for good.
In a statement to Fox News, Jackson said, “As someone who has always believed in the transformative power of music, film, and television, I’m beyond excited to introduce the expansion of my G-Unit Film & Television through the launch of G-Unit Studios right here in Shreveport.”
He added, “From the gritty narratives of the streets to the compelling stories that define our era, G-Unit has always been more than just entertainment; it’s a platform for voices that need to be heard, stories that need to be told.”
The rapper said that choosing to bring his film studio to Shreveport was not “just a business decision,” but also “a commitment to fostering talent, creating opportunities, and building a community that thrives through creativity and innovation.”
He also said that he sees the city “as a beacon of inspiration and creativity.”
Jackson created his G-Unit Film & Television production company in 2003 and released a documentary called 50 Cent: The New Breed.
He has also worked with the Starz network to produce and star in shows like Power.
According to Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux, the city is “thrilled” to be the home of 50 Cent’s new studio.
Arceneaux said, “The city’s rich culture and talent provide the perfect backdrop for this endeavor. We are eager to collaborate with Mr. Jackson and G-Unit Film & Television to bring captivating movies and entertainment to Shreveport and Caddo Parish.”
50 Other stars have left Hollywood
Although some people may think Shreveport is an odd choice for a celebrity to build a film studio, 50 Cent isn’t the first star to move out of Hollywood.
Actor and producer Mark Wahlberg said he moved his family out of Los Angeles to Las Vegas last year with plans to help build a new studio and turn the city into “Hollywood 2.0.”
Wahlberg said, “We’re looking to create 10,000 jobs [in] the studio alone. The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now. We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals.”
The famous actor also said that Las Vegas was much more affordable than Los Angeles and that it had a “much better lifestyle.”
Actor Tyler Perry also had a grand opening of his studio in Atlanta, which launched in 2019.
During an interview with CBS host Gayle King, Perry said, “I clearly believe that I’m ignored in Hollywood, for sure, and that’s fine. I get it.”
