Democrat politicians are in trouble over the campus riots.
After years of tolerating and sometimes promoting radicalism, the bill may be coming due.
Now New York squad members are spitting mad after the NYPD moved to end insanity at Columbia University.
After weeks of growing out-of-control protests on Columbia’s campus, officials finally decided to act.
It all started when the university’s president, Minouche Shafik, testified before a Congressional hearing in Washington, D.C.
Shafik urged NYPD officials to break up demonstrations led by protestors against Israel’s war in Gaza on the New York City campus.
After that, demonstrations from protesters and counter-protesters spread to other universities, leading to more law enforcement interventions and student arrests.
Mayor Eric Adams said the police were sent to Columbia University after an administrative request.
Adams said, “Outside agitators were on their grounds, training and really co-opting this movement. What really was the tipping point for me was when I learned that one of the outside agitator’s husband was arrested for federal terrorism charges. I knew I could not sit back and state that I’m going to allow this to continue to escalate.”
Adams’ decision sent other New York Democrats over the edge.
Even before the NYPD arrived on campus, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) was posting on social media about the prospects of any potential harm befalling “any kid” on campus.
AOC on NYPD on campus: “This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety”
On X, AOC wrote, “If any kid is hurt tonight, responsibility will fall on the mayor and univ presidents. Other leaders and schools have found a safe, de-escalatory path. This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety. A nightmare in the making. I urge the Mayor to reverse course.”

Here, AOC was referring to Adams’ urging of parents to tell their sons and daughters to leave “before the situation escalates.”
This serves as proof that the college students (who aren’t actually ‘kids’) were warned beforehand to disperse.
Not to be outdone, fellow squad member and fire alarm enthusiast, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) touted his experience in education prior to his stint as a congressman.
Jamaal Bowman: “Over-policing and militarization of our schools is dangerous”
Bowman wrote, “As a former educator I know how dangerous the over-policing and militarization of our schools is. This is shameful and unacceptable. Our kids deserve better, our teachers deserve better, and our schools deserve better.”

Bowman later added, “These are students. In no world should our kids be met with guns when using their constitutional right to peacefully assemble.”

What he conveniently left out is that protesters have broken university policies (not to mention, glass windows) and have also engaged in a threatening manner towards Jewish students.
Elected Democrats have painted themselves into a corner when it comes to the unrest on college campuses across the country.
After years of encouraging, tacitly or otherwise, protests that can and often do get out of hand, the spectacle now occurring has the real potential to cause a political backlash at a time when Joe Biden and those of his political party can least afford it.
At the same time, if Democrats are seen as supporting law enforcement and attempting to quell the protests, they may not get the support they are counting on from young voters on Election Day.
In the end, the political pickle they now find themselves in is their own doing and they have only themselves to blame.
