When it comes to foreign threats to the country, few have been as aggressive as the Peoples’ Republic of China in recent years.
And China’s balloon incursion into US airspace may not be its biggest coup of late.
Because Xi Jinping is rubbing his hands with delight after getting this update.
China’s expanding influence
In recent years, China has made significant advances in its quest to become the dominant global superpower.
China has invested billions into its ever-growing military, expanded its sphere of influence by lending funds to foreign governments and building military bases all over the globe.
And if recent events don’t make it clear that they’ve also spied on Americans along the way, then nothing might.
And Hunter Biden’s scandals haven’t helped the perception that Joe Biden and his allies have not only failed to stand up to China in a meaningful way but have also even seemed to aid China in some cases.
Now blue state Democrat Congresswoman Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA)’s ties to groups associated with Communist China are coming under the microscope thanks to a report from the Daily Caller this week that Chu was named “honorary chairwoman” of the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China in 2019 – an organization that opposes Taiwan independence.
Breitbart News subsequently noted that “the U.S.-China Economic Security and Review Commission (USCC) identified the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China as an “intelligence service” for the Chinese Communist Party.”
Breitbart News noted the Daily Caller identified the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China as a “direct subordinate” to the United Front Work Department, adding that “the UFWD is part of an elaborate network of well-funded influence operations that infiltrate and co-opt groups outside the Chinese Communist Party,” and is “basically a system for injecting the ideological toxins of Chinese Communism into every group that looks vulnerable and useful.”
It is not clear if Rep. Chu is aware of the Forums for Peaceful Reunification of China’s alleged ties to the Chinese government.
Nevertheless, the report highlights the need for Members of Congress to be very diligent when it comes to their potential manipulation by foreign intelligence operations.
And it could encourage House Republicans to look into Rep. Chu’s ties to the organization as part of their larger investigations.
