Far-left Congresswoman goes to war with her own party just before the midterms

Calls to defund the police spread like wildfire among the radical left during the summer of 2020.

Establishment Democrats did nothing to rein in the radical base of the party, figuring that their intensity would pay political dividends – but that provoked a backlash, leading to the Pelosi Democrats almost losing their majority in the House of Representatives.

Now, as party elders balk, one far-left Congresswoman is going to war with Democrats keen to distance themselves from the radicals before the midterms.

During a Congressional hearing on Tuesday, far-left freshman Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) claimed that her Congressional colleagues were “spewing lies” about her position on defunding the police, and asserted that police officers are ruthless killers.

Bush said, “What too many of my colleagues do not want us to talk about what, what they don’t want us talking about, is that as they trip over each other, rushing to spew lies and right-wing talking points about police funding, they are saying nothing about the rise of violence by the police. Even after millions of people marched in our streets demanding an end to police brutality, there were only fifteen, one-five, fifteen days in 2021 in which police officers didn’t kill someone.”

Context would be helpful here, because assuming her numbers are correct, the corporate-controlled media would make sure to let the public know if police unjustifiably killed people on 350 of 365 days last year.

And they would do it with the ferocity of a wounded animal trying to protect its young.

Also, if Bush’s Democrat colleagues habitually spewed right-wing talking points, that would be news to most of us.

Bush’s real beef here is that Democrats who don’t represent midnight-blue constituencies recognize the polling on her preferred policies, and it’s dismal.

According to Politico, polling from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says, “Unless [Democrats] more forcefully confront the GOP’s ‘alarmingly potent’ culture war attacks, from critical race theory to defunding the police, they risk losing significant ground to Republicans in the midterms. A generic ballot of swing districts from late January showed Democrats trailing Republicans by 4 points, according to the polling. If Democrats don’t answer Republican hits, the party operatives warned, the GOP’s lead on the generic ballot balloons to 14 points from 4 points – a dismal prediction for Democrats when the GOP only needs to win five seats to seize back the majority.”

Left unsaid in the polling memo is that a dispassionate assertion of fact – mainstream Democrats spent months in silence hoping to capitalize off of far-left radicals before it became clear that it was more of a hindrance than a help – isn’t really an “attack” at all, and facts are stubborn things to counter.

The policies Bush favors – defunding the police, bail “reform,” and a generally lenient approach to dealing with crime has led to skyrocketing crime rates in every single jurisdiction where these leftist ideas have been made law.

And by all accounts, the voters know it too.

That’s what Democrats are afraid of, and that’s why they are now backpedaling.

Bush may be able to weather the storm in a district that provides Stalinesque margins for Democrats every two years, but time will tell if her suburban and rural colleagues will be that lucky on Election Day.
