Democrat-run states and cities are suffering from skyrocketing crimes and from illegal aliens pouring into the country.
But Democrat lawmakers seem to have other priorities that are now facing unexpected scrutiny.
And New York’s reparation plans were flooded with a tidal wave of opposition after these viral tweets.
Reparations Resurgence
A few months ago, the state of New York approved the creation of a reparations committee, to study the feasibility of giving reparations to black New Yorkers.
Supporters view reparations (taxpayer money to slave descendants) as a moral imperative, and one of the strongest ways we can heal America from its racist, divisive, ugly past.
But after past statements of two committee members recently resurfaced, it seems they aren’t practicing the love and tolerance that they preach.
In recent years, the African American community has intensified its push for reparations – cash payments to compensate slave descendants for challenging life circumstances allegedly the result of slave ancestry.
California created a reparations committee in 2021 to study the implementation of such a policy, including who specifically qualifies, and what would be the final price tag.
The State of New York created its reparations committee in December 2023.
Two Loving, Tolerant Committee Members
Ron Daniels and Lurie Daniel Favors were appointed to the New York committee by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx).
But as uncovered by the New York Post, their backgrounds aren’t filled with love and tolerance, instead vitriol against whites.
In an October 2021 Twitter post, Daniels blamed whites for climate change, writing, “White Folks Messed Up the Weather = Black Folks Save the Planet.”
In May 2021, he referred to U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), an African American, as “Uncle Tim,” a reference to a derogatory term.
“‘Uncle Tim,’ Scott that is, Who Picked Cotton On the Plantation, Is ‘Still On the Plantation’ = Picked to Be the ‘Black Face’ To Suppress/Black Power/Black Freedom On Behalf of White Supremacy/White Power and That’s ‘The Cotton Picking Truth’ #BewareofUncleTim,” wrote Daniels on Twitter.
Favors showed her love and tolerance on Twitter in 2019 when she wrote, “In the name of our ancestors who weep over our fractured communities; in the name of our families whose genealogy is at best a guess and a prayer; in the name of all that is holy & just:
F*** YOU & YOUR RACE APOLOGETICS. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. WE WILL NOT MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE.”
Favors also supports defunding the police, and Daniels tweeted just 18 days after the Oct. 7 terrorist attack in Israel, “With silence, comes complacency. No Homeland. No Peace. No Justice, No Peace in Israel.”
Epitome of Hypocrisy
The core philosophy behind the reparations and racial equality movement is to supposedly advocate for changes that will usher in greater respect, unity, and camaraderie between races.
However, it’s main priorities appear to be more focused on pursuing an enormous, unprecedented wealth transfer and taking to social media to launch racist attacks against anyone standing in their way.
But by showing their true colors of hostility and hatred toward whites, some in the pro-reparations camp, such as Daniels and Favors, do two things.
First, their negativity turns people off from considering their position or proposal.
And second, their animosity indicates an intense, adversarial, us-vs-you core mindset.
This means they live out the exact opposite of the love and inclusivity that they claim to seek.
It should be no surprise then why reparations as a concept is faced with such intense opposition.
New York Senate Republican Leader Robert Ortt (R-Niagara) said it best: “This commission will stoke further division in New York and waste millions of taxpayer dollars that could be spent educating the public about our history and improving communities.”
