Leftist state and district attorneys in power have been a complete disaster for ordinary citizens.
And elites like George Soros have been tickled pink.
But now he’s blowing his top after one of his top prosecutors got slapped with some humiliating news.
Radical leftist financier George Soros recently penned a Wall Street Journal opinion piece titled “Why I Support Reform Prosecutors,” last weekend.
Given exploding crime it is safe to say that his new social experiment has been a complete disaster for ordinary citizens.
Of course, Democrat politicians and their backers like Soros love it.
However the Hungarian-born billionaire clearly had another motive for the timing of the piece.
He didn’t just want to put a fresh varnish of spin on why he and the Democrat Party have funneled truckloads of cash to rogue prosecutors across the United States in recent years.
Soros’ was likely trying to distract from the breaking news about the scathing resignation email a veteran Illinois prosecutor hit send on just days before.
Long-time Illinois prosecutor and Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney James Murphy quit out of sheer exasperation with the lunatic leftist in charge – Soros-funded Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx.
Murphy slammed the Chicagoland prosecutor in a hard-hitting, office-wide resignation letter, saying her administration “is more concerned about political narratives and agendas than with victims and prosecuting violent crime.”
Murphy itemized point by point his reasons for his departure, saying, “I cannot continue to work for an Administration I no longer respect. A few months ago, I was summoned into a meeting with the State’s Attorney so she could criticize some bond hearings I did. One involved a massive shootout and the other involved a woman who was walking to the store when she was gunned down in a crossfire. The bond hearings involved gun possession charges only. The State’s Attorney communicated that she was upset because a headline in a newspaper read ‘Man won’t face murder charge under the Safe-T Act.’ The State’s Attorney voiced her concern with the headline and the heat she was getting from her backers and never voiced any concern over the fact that this woman was shot and killed simply walking to the store. And nobody was going to face a murder charge.”
The “Safe-T Act” is a far-reaching bill that purports to reform many areas of the state’s approach to criminal justice, including getting rid of cash bail.
The change to the murder rule more narrowly defines who can be charged with first-degree murder in Illinois, requiring the person be directly responsible for the death.
Murphy says the entire process of implementing the Safe-T Act was rushed through without thought.
He said, “Seeing this Administration’s involvement in that process was an eye-opening experience for me. To be clear, I am in support of eliminating cash bail- no person should sit in jail solely because they can’t afford to pay for bail. But I never understood the rush on an issue that was so important. I voiced my concerns at the time. And it was in that process that I began to realize that the Administration’s ‘Mission Vision and Values’ was just a PR stunt, just words on a page.”
But that the State’s Attorney was more concerned with a headline than justice for a woman shot and killed for no reason was the final straw.
Murphy said, “That is what is wrong with this Administration. I’ve seen it day after day. How many mass shootings do there have to be before something is done? This Administration is more concerned with political narratives and agendas than with victims and prosecuting violent crime. That is why I can’t stay any longer.”
Murphy surely isn’t alone in frustration.
Far-Left state and district attorneys have implemented soft-on crime policies in a slew of other blue cities in the past couple of years to predictably disastrous results.
Law and order and public safety are surely going to be decisive issues in the Midterm elections.
