Comedian Dave Chappelle has become a persistent target.
He was even attacked during a recent standup set.
And Chappelle’s attacker committed one crime that will make you furious.
A deranged audience member carrying a knife recently tackled Dave Chappelle during a standup performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
And people were outraged when the attacker, Isaiah Lee, was given a slap on the wrist with a misdemeanor.
But it turns out that Lee was already wanted for attempted murder in a case where he stabbed his roommate in December.
So this loon was roaming the streets, and he was only caught after he bum rushed Chappelle on stage.
Far-left Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, who was bankrolled by George Soros, acted as if it was a point of pride that the notoriety from the Chappelle case led to Lee’s arrest for attempted murder.
Gascón said, “The publicity generated by the attack on Mr. Chappelle helped police solve this crime . . . The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl was misdemeanor conduct and rightfully referred to the City Attorney’s Office. Based on the nature and severity of the December attack, Mr. Lee is now facing felony charges, which my office will prosecute.”
Gascón is facing a recall because his pro-crime policies have even angered progressives in the city, so he desperately needs a PR win.
“Woke” actress Roseanna Arquette is one of many leftists who are sick and tired of the crime – she’s backing a campaign to recall Gascón.
Chappelle’s lawyer Gabriel Colwell called out Gascón by name and ripped him, saying, “It’s a travesty of justice that Gascón is refusing to prosecute this case as a felony . . . The city attorney, who filed the case, is doing his job but DA Gascón should also do his job and charge this as a felony . . . This is what Mr. Chappelle wants. Mr. Chappelle wants this case charged as a felony . . . Ten thousand people saw Dave Chappelle assaulted on stage at the Hollywood Bowl last Tuesday night, and the assailant had a deadly weapon on him . . . The fact that this isn’t charged as a felony case by the DA is insane.”
Even liberals have a breaking point when their policies begin to put them in jeopardy.
The DA’s biggest proponents are actually criminals.
Luis Angel Hernandez, who was convicted of murdering a delivery driver, was recorded on a prison phone line praising Gascón for the new soft-on-crime approach.
Hernandez said, “I’m going to get that n****’s name on my face. That’s a champ right there…F***ing Gascon…That’s the n**** right there, bro. He’s making historic changes for all of us, bro.”
Criminals seem to be Gascón’s chief constituency, which makes no sense at all.
His job as prosecutor is to keep the public safe by holding criminals accountable, but that’s not what he and other Soros-backed DAs are doing.
