Democrats have spent the last eight years demonizing Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, they have copied many of his policies.
And a Democrat Governor proved Trump was right with one jaw-dropping move.
During the 2020 George Floyd riots, Democrats across the country pushed the “Defund the Police” rhetoric.
Some leftists, including a New York Times op-ed contributor, called for the police to be abolished altogether.
But the Left’s pro-crime policies have backfired.
Law & Order
Residents are getting fed up with rampant crime.
Even some left-wing jurisdictions have recalled or replaced district attorneys bankrolled by George Soros.
The crime problem came into focus when NYPD officers were assaulted by unrepentant illegal aliens.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul even said that deportation was on the table for illegal aliens who commit crimes.
That is a commonsense position, but the Democrats are no longer a commonsense party.
Now Hochul is sending in 750 National Guard troops to curb crime in the New York City subway system.
Hochul said during a press conference, “Since taking office, I have been laser-focused on driving down subway crime and protecting New Yorkers…My five-point plan will rid our subways of violent offenders and protect all commuters and transit workers. I am sending a message to all New Yorkers: I will not stop working to keep you safe and restore your peace of mind whenever you walk through those turnstiles.”
Pushed to the Right
Hochul narrowly defeated Republican challenger Lee Zeldin in her gubernatorial race because Zeldin focused on law and order.
Democrats try to talk tough about public safety, but they rarely do anything about it.
However, Hochul has been forced to take public safety issues seriously.
The Governor’s office released in a statement, “To supplement the NYPD’s enhanced baggage checks at heavily trafficked areas, Governor Hochul is deploying 1,000 members of State personnel to assist the NYPD’s mission to further this effort. This includes 250 members from the New York State Police and the MTA Police Department. In addition, Governor Hochul is directing the National Guard to make the 750 members currently deployed on Joint Task Force Empire Shield available to supplement this effort under the supervision of law enforcement. These checks will be targeted at heavily trafficked locations.”
When the Democrat Governor of New York is deploying the National Guard, that is a clear sign that Democrats are deeply concerned about crime being a big problem for the party going into the November election.
