Corruption is nothing new in politics, particularly in areas where one party has total control.
When already crooked officials feel they have little to fear from voters, they tend to be even more brazen in their lawlessness.
Now, a blue state Governor’s political career may finally be dead for this jaw-dropping reason.
Disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo was forced to resign his post last August in the wake of a barrage of sexual harassment allegations.
As serious as that conduct may have been, it’s only the tip of the iceberg when measured against other acts of corruption on the part of the former Governor.
A devastating audit by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli could be the final nail in the coffin for any attempted political comeback.
According to the audit, the Cuomo administration ordered nursing homes to accept COVID-contagious patients even as the virus spread “like fire through dry grass” at such facilities – and then lied about it, covering up the resulting deaths.
The New York Times was forced to admit, “The audit found that Health Department officials at times underreported the full death toll by as much as 50 percent from April 2020 to February 2021, as Mr. Cuomo faced increasing scrutiny over whether his administration had intentionally concealed the actual number of deaths.”
A lack of transparency was also cited, where the Department of Health failed to account for 4,100 nursing-home lives lost to the virus, falling “far short” of its “moral” responsibilities.
DiNapoli said, “Families have a right to know if their loved one’s COVID-19 death was counted, but many still don’t have answers from the state Department of Health. Our audit findings are extremely troubling. The public was misled by those at the highest level of state government through distortion and suppression of the facts when New Yorkers deserved the truth. The pandemic is not over, and I am hopeful the current administration will make changes to improve accountability and protect lives. An important step would be for DOH to provide the families who lost loved ones with answers as to the actual number of nursing homes residents who died. These families are still grieving, and they deserve no less.”
CNN and other left-wing networks spent a year propping up Cuomo’s handling of COVID in contrast with what they insisted were “failings” of the Trump administration.
In November 2020, Cuomo was even presented with the 2020 International Emmy Founders Award for “leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his masterful use of television to inform and calm people around the world.”
Cuomo’s Emmy was later rescinded because of the sexual assault allegations against him, but that he was awarded it in the first place encapsulates just how much the media industry standards have collapsed.
Now that the Comptroller audit has come to light, it’s clear that Cuomo was sacrificed as part of a cover-up and his “Me too” creepiness was a convenient excuse to make him disappear.
Better for the Left for Cuomo to be out of sight and out of mind for sexual harassment than for the masses to see that the darling of The Resistance and corporate-controlled media was responsible for the needless death of thousands of grandparents in New York.
This audit isn’t getting anywhere near the network coverage of Cuomo’s harassment allegations – and that is completely by design.
Donald Trump popularized the term “fake news” to highlight where the networks outright lie to the American people, but the biggest part of fake news is the complete and total blackout of anything truly damaging to Democrats and their corrupt media enablers.
