The crime wave in America’s deep-blue cities continues to worsen.
It’s so bad, brazen acts of lawlessness often occur in broad daylight.
And a Los Angeles woman literally went above and beyond to prevent her dog from being stolen.
It was one of those things that had to be seen to be believed.
A surreal scene captured on video
In a viral video recorded by a witness, a Kia sedan was seen speeding through an intersection while a woman was on the hood and clinging to the vehicle.

It turns out that the woman was 21-year-old Ali Zacharias.
The incident occurred on January 18th.
Zacharias was shopping at a Whole Foods store in downtown Los Angeles.
Unbeknownst to her, while she was shopping, a group of people were plotting to steal her beloved and expensive pet.
A woman, later identified by the LAPD as Sadie Slater, allegedly grabbed Zacharias’ French bulldog, Onyx.
Zacharias said the dog was at her feet under a table when a stranger called out to him, and then grabbed his leash and walked off.
Zacharias, initially thinking a misunderstanding had occurred, became aware that her pet was being stolen.
She recounted the interaction with the alleged thief, saying, “’That’s my dog. Excuse me,’ and she wasn’t listening.”
When Slater got into a white Kia Forte with others already inside, Zacharias leapt into action.
She tried to prevent the dog-napping by standing in front of the vehicle.
The dog nappers got more than they bargained for
According to the Daily Mail, “It was at this point that the car started moving off and she ended up on the hood.”
Zacharias held on to the top of the car for several blocks.
Eventually as the vehicle made a turn, she was thrown off, but luckily was not seriously hurt.
The dog nappers sped off once again with Onyx still inside.
She said, “I love this dog. I miss this dog. I can’t wait to see his face. I can’t wait to see him. He’ll wiggle over sideways when he sees me. He gets so happy. I can’t wait to see him. They stole my child away from me. I’m just praying that I can get him back.”
Slater was arrested over the weekend, but the dog’s whereabouts are unknown.
Zacharias was “screaming with joy” at news of Slater’s arrest, but she is now “waiting for the next piece of news that Onyx is safe and in custody.”
French Bulldogs are a popular dog breed and often sell for over $1,000 for a puppy.
LAPD Officer Jader Chaves says of the video, “It’s very shocking… but at the same time it was very helpful in identifying the vehicle and the license plate and the occupants.”

According to KTLA, the car is a newer white Kia Forte sedan with a missing hubcap on the driver’s front side.
Zacharias is offering a large cash reward for the dog’s safe return and the LAPD continues to investigate the matter.
