Nike billionaire Phil Knight pledged to fight the “woke” Democrats in his state, but a far-left candidate eked out a victory in the Oregon gubernatorial race.
The consequence of the left-wing monoculture is that Portland has gone to the dogs.
Recently, a woman was hit with a wooden plank for no good reason whatsoever.
KATU reported that a “woman told police that she was using a power outlet outside the hotel to charge her phone when she saw a man walking towards her carrying a six-foot-long 2×2 piece of lumber. The woman said she told the man to ‘have a blessed day,’ but in response, he smashed the piece of wood into her legs just below her knees.”
Wishing someone a blessed day gets met with a beating.
Unsurprisingly, the suspect, 52-year-old Keith Lopez Herring, had an extensive criminal record, and as is the case with so many in “progressive” cities, he seems to suffer from untreated mental health issues.
A security guard reportedly heard Herring talking to himself, then he raised his voice and said to the guard, “Are you following me?”
KATU added that a “man working at a dental office near the Plaid Pantry told police that Herring had tried to carjack him while saying he would kill him and jabbing a metal rod at him…While being interviewed at a police station, Herring allegedly asked for a refill of his water cup. When the detective took the water cup, he charged at her and knocked her over the hallway before being corralled by other officers.”

Herring is reportedly on a county hold for failing to report as a sex offender in Sherman County, Oregon in 2017.
He also has arrest records in Washington State going back to 1992
People like Herring have been allowed to terrorize law-abiding citizens because keeping them in jail or forcing them to get treatment is not considered “compassionate.”
According to the radical left, compassion means allowing career criminals to roam the streets and assault people with wooden planks.
