The radical left is working overtime to completely erase America’s history.
They are currently laser focused on toppling every historical place in Virginia.
And these so-called Republicans just joined Democrats in another move to erase Virginia history.
The Virginia State Senate just passed a bill that would bankrupt some of the Commonwealth’s most important and historical sites.
Removing tax exempt status from respected historical groups
The bill in question would remove the tax-exempt status from the Lee-Jackson Foundation, the United Daughter’s of the Confederacy (UDC), and any other non-profit they deem to be associated with history they don’t like.
The move, if it is signed into law by RINO Governor Glenn Youngkin, would bankrupt the groups and force the closure of some of Virginia’s most cherished historical sites.
It would force the closure of Stonewall Jackson’s home, Lee’s childhood mansion, and Confederate veteran museums across the commonwealth.
The Washington Post reported the effort originated from Virginia Beach high schooler Simone Nied, 17, who started advocating for the UDC’s tax exemptions to be stripped two years ago.
Her requests culminated in bills in both the House of Delegates and Senate to do just that.
The loss of the tax exemptions will end up on the desk of Governor Glenn Youngkin and many are concerned he will sign the measure.
But the worst part of the effort is that it is only the first step in efforts by the radical left to erase history and force the power of the state onto any group the left opposes.
Already calls for more
In fact, in a recent Virginia Mercury commentary, radical leftist Samantha Willis doesn’t just applaud the move to erase history, she urges the legislature to do even more.
In her racist, anti-Virginia screed, Willis says its time to target even more institutions.
As she writes, “While we’re considering organizations that don’t deserve to skip out on paying taxes, I’d suggest some Virginia churches be next up for review. Specifically, the ones that discriminate against LGBTQ+ people, allow politics to infiltrate the pulpit and destroy family relationships.”
She goes on, “But just as legislators’ proposal to end the UDC’s tax-free days exemplifies, reexamining the activities of wayward churches would be another opportunity to seriously consider if we’re using our state’s fiscal resources the best and fairest way we can.”
Unfortunately for Ms. Willis, her proposal would immediately end the tax-exempt status if the most active political churches in Virginia – i.e. black churches who have long been at the forefront of political action.
Of course those black churches are not the target of Willis’s rath.
She wants to target only conservative churches that stick to Biblical truths.
In her warped world, and in the world of the radical left there is no room for discussion or opposite views.
The Senate Bill passed 23-16 with so-called Republicans David Suetterlein and Richard Stuart joining in the Democrat effort to destroy Virginia history.
Now its time for all concerned Virginians to contact Governor Youngkin and urge him to veto this travesty of a bill.
