Whether it’s open borders, COVID lockdowns or a dangerous leniency when it comes to enacting and enforcing laws that deter violent crime, one recurring theme of Democrats’ failed policies is that the elites crafting the rules never seem to be the ones who have to deal with the unfortunate consequences of them.
That was sadly true last week in New York when two officers were shot and killed in the line of duty.
And now the widow of a fallen NYPD officer slammed Manhattan’s woke District Attorney in her husband’s eulogy.
Family, friends, and fellow officers gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday at a service honoring fallen NYPD Officer Jason Rivera, where Rivera’s widow offered a tribute to her husband and his partner Wilbert Mora, who was also killed in the line of duty last week.
Dominique Luzuriaga said to a packed crowd, “Jason is so happy right now that all of you are here, through pain and sorrow, this is exactly how he would have wanted to be remembered: like a true hero — or like I used to call him, ‘Big P.O. Rivera.’”

Luzuriaga went on to say, “You have the whole nation on gridlock. And although you won’t be here anymore, I want you to live through me. The system continues to fail us. We are not safe anymore, not even the members of the service. I know you were tired of these laws, especially the ones from the new DA. I hope he’s watching you speak through me right now. I’m sure all of our blue family is tired too. But I promise — we promise — that your death won’t be in vain. I love you to the end of time. We’ll take the watch from here.”
The DA she was referring to is the controversial Alvin Bragg, and though he’s only been in office since January 1, he’s already gained notoriety.
According to the New York Post, Bragg doesn’t really believe in prison.
In his first memo to staff, Alvin Bragg said his office “will not seek a carceral sentence” except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes, and public corruption.
But wait, there’s more!
Bragg has stopped prosecuting certain offenses, refusing to punish violations of certain duly enacted criminal laws, including resisting arrest, trespassing, fare evasion, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license, and any traffic violation.
With Bragg at the helm, Manhattan must accept disorder on the sidewalks, streets, and subways, and the police must prepare for resistance at every arrest.
That’s because resisting arrest is no longer an offense.
Senator Tom Cotton sounded the alarm about this weeks ago.
New York's "prosecutor" announced that armed robbery is now only a misdemeanor offense.
Soros prosecutors are a threat to the safety of every American.

It’s long been known that visible signs of crime and civil disorder encourage further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.
Even far-left New York Governor Kathy Hochul may be reaching her breaking point with Bragg.
She recently reminded Bragg that she had the power to remove him from office over his pro-crime policies.
In a prepared statement, Hochul said, “My highest priority is protecting the safety of New Yorkers. I reiterated my belief that safety and justice must go hand-in-hand.”
Hochul also said she would “continue to work with all of our District Attorneys, Mayor [Eric] Adams, the NYPD and every New Yorker who is working to restore our sense of security and enforce our laws.”
Bragg himself now says he may be “rethinking” some of his policies.
Hopefully after this recent tragedy, common sense will prevail.
