Regulators in one blue state have a plan to make the energy crisis worse

Right now, it feels like we’re all living in a survival-against-the-odds reality show.

Democrats are there to keep making our chance of making it even worse at every turn.

And now regulators in one blue state have a plan to take the energy crisis to the next level.

New Mexico regulators, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that this moment in history is the perfect time to cook up a slew of new oil and gas rules.

Controversial Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration has created a complicated plan to make extracting raw materials in the state more difficult.

New Mexico is home to one of the world’s most productive oil fields, which means it should be on the front lines to help relieve the shortage caused by Joe Biden’s embargo on Russian oil.

However, it doesn’t matter how productive the land is with Democrats in charge gumming up the process.

“New Mexicans can breathe easier knowing nationally-leading rules are imminent and the Environment Department will enforce them,” Environment Secretary James Kenney told the Associated Press.

Pretty sure they’re gasping for air as they swipe a credit card to pay for gas that’s jumped from $3.54 a gallon to $4.18 a gallon in a single week.

Considering how quickly Democrats were willing to suspend all the rules for vaccine makers during the pandemic – and then even do their level best to force all Americans to get the jab – you’d think they’d let oil and gas companies solve the current energy crisis as quickly as possible.

Instead, they’re forging ahead to create rules that will likely force companies to get new equipment – not exactly easy to do quickly with the current supply chain crisis – and jump through all kinds of hoops to make environmental activists happy.

“Our state is uniquely positioned to provide energy independence for our country and whether the progressives like that or not, we all need to do our part to ensure New Mexico and the United States of America are energy independent,” State House Minority Leader Jim Townsend said. “New Mexicans across the board are feeling the burden of regressive political tactics that Lujan Grisham continues to force on each of us.”

If the new rules are approved on April 25, companies will have to calculate their emissions and have them certified by an engineer (because, you know, the air smells better when you measure what’s in it).

They’ll also have to figure out how to measure problems caused by leaks and fix them on a regular basis.

In other words, they’ll have to do what they would do normally – since nobody really wants to run leaky, inefficient equipment – but they’ll have to waste all kinds of time and money doing it exactly how government bureaucrats decide they should.

America certainly doesn’t need any enemies with Democrats in charge.
