Blue states have been badly mismanaged as hard-left policies gain more traction.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is one of many leftist Democrats who has been focused on promoting radical gender ideology in public institutions such as schools.
But instead of worrying about preferred pronouns, Pritzker and Democrats should have been more concerned if the students could read.
Now a new report shows that 67 different public schools in Illinois did not have a single child that tested proficient in math.
Independent Illinois research firm Wirepoints reported that “the new Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 2023 Report Card data and the outcomes are worse even though the impacts of covid are another year behind us. In 2023, there were 67 Illinois schools where not a single student tested was proficient in math and 32 schools where no student tested was proficient in reading.”
Democrats and their media allies pushed for extended school closures during COVID while downplaying the impact of learning loss.
The chickens have come home to roost and the Left refuse to acknowledge the problem.
Instead, they are doubling down on DEI, gender ideology, and other “woke” nonsense.
Worthless diplomas
Wirepoints added that “officials in those schools graduated nearly 70% of their students. More than 12,000 students attend Illinois’ zero-proficiency schools. Every single one of those children will struggle in life because they lack basic reading and math skills.”
For decades, children in failing schools have been “socially promoted” to the next grade despite poor attendance, poor grades, and little—if any—mastery of the subjects.
This has occurred for two reasons: public schools are terrified of losing funding for poor graduation rates and “woke” educators believe that kids should be given a break because of challenging socioeconomic circumstances.
However, giving these kids a break only benefits the educator who gets to feel compassionate while the kids are being ill-prepared for life.
Show me the money
A common refrain from the Left is that the schools are underfunded, but the real problem is that the funds are being mismanaged.
Wirepoints added that “Spry is one of 30 schools in Illinois where not a single student can read at grade level…Data from the Illinois State Board of Education shows spending at Spry was already at $20,000 per student before the pandemic. Today it spends $35,600.”

Spry Community Links High School in Chicago spends nearly $40,000 per pupil, yet the results are abysmal.
Democrats will never point the finger at bad teachers, bad unions, or bad parents.
The problem will always and forever be “cold-hearted” Republicans who will not spend more money on education.
