One brave Washington, D.C. restaurant owner defied Mayor Bowser’s mandates and his principled stand earned him high profile support

The vast majority of Americans agree it’s time we just accept the coronavirus is here to stay and we simply need to get on with our lives.

But an ever-shrinking minority of leftist officials in blue cities and states just can’t let go of unamerican vaccine and mask mandates.

Now one brave Washington, D.C. restaurant owner defied Mayor Bowser’s mandates and his principled stand earned him high profile support.

Eric Flannery owns The Big Board, a restaurant in our nation’s Capital.

For refusing to enforce mask and vaccine mandates and thus, refusing to essentially act as a deputized enforcer of the city’s COVID police, city officials revoked Flannery’s liquor license and shut down his establishment.

After hearing about the incident, two Kentucky Republican politicians visited the restaurant in a show of solidarity with Flannery.

Senator Rand Paul and his staff visited the restaurant on Tuesday night, along with Rep. Thomas Massie.

Both Republicans thanked Flannery for protesting the idea that the government could force restaurant servers to inspect customers’ medical records.

Paul said, “I’m proud of the owner for not submitting.”

Flannery got noticeably emotional when describing the harassment by Washington, D.C. officials, saying, “I’m just a little old bar owner. I’ve been down here for ten years, and I love everybody who comes.”

He added, “My servers, they are not lesser people. They don’t need to be masked. They don’t carry disease. We’re not doing anything wrong here. I just know that I’m doing the right thing and this place is supposed to be open.”

Washington, D.C.’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration has issued 50 verbal warnings to various restaurants whose staff failed to mask up at all times.

Paul says that Washington, D.C. Mayor Murial Bowser’s enforcement of her mandates is illegitimate and because of that the Mayor ought to be impeached.

Massie agreed, saying, “Congress has allowed you to make these rules, and you’ve shown yourself unsuitable.”

In an interview with The Daily Caller, Massie said that “Each person I think needs to push back to the ability of their means.”

The Congressman may well be onto something there, because a recent Monmouth Poll showed that for more than two-thirds of Americans, freedom and liberty are winning the argument over COVID tyranny.

And change starts with individual Americans bravely making a stand, like Washington, D.C. Restaurant owner Eric Flannery.
