Gavin Newsom has aspirations of becoming president.
But he cannot even manage his own state.
And Newsom had egg on his face when he walked into one store.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is waiting in the bullpen in case the Democrats need a replacement for Joe Biden.
But Newsom is overseeing the deterioration of the Golden State, which does not bode well for his Presidential prospects.
Newsom was smacked in the face with the consequences of his own policies when he went shopping at Target.
During a Zoom conference, Newsom recounted the story of a man who brazenly shoplifted in front of him.
He explained that a shoplifter dropped an item, then, “he comes back, picks it up, and keeps walking out. As we’re checking out, the woman says, ‘Oh, he’s just walking out. He didn’t pay for that.’ I said, ‘Why didn’t you stop [him]?’ She goes, ‘Oh, the Governor.’ Swear to God. True story. On my mom’s grave. ‘The Governor lowered the threshold. There’s no accountability’…I said, ‘That’s just not true…I said, ‘We have the tenth toughest; $950 is the tenth toughest in America. She doesn’t even know what I was talking about. By the way, it’s the tenth toughest in America. Look it up. No one gives a damn right.”
Newsom was determined to shovel responsibility onto someone else.
What Newsom fails to understand is that it does not matter what laws are on the books if the laws are not being enforced.
Far-left district attorneys are implementing pro-crime policies that undermine the cops’ ability to do their jobs.
They’re not incentivized to stop theft if the DA is simply going to cut the criminals loose.
Newsom continued, “And I said, ‘It’s just not true’…‘Well, we don’t stop them because the governor.’ And then she goes—she looks at me twice and then she freaks out. She calls everyone over, wants to take photos. I’m like, ‘No, I’m not taking a photo. We’re having a conversation. Where’s your manager? How are you blaming the Governor?’ And it was, you know, $380 later, and I was like, ‘Why am I spending $380? Everyone can walk the hell right out.”
Newsom must have forgotten that he signed Senate Bill 553, which prohibits employers from commanding their employees to stop theft.
So she was not required to stop the thief.
On top of that, thanks to far-left advocacy groups and litigious attorneys, corporations can get sued for stopping shoplifters, so all of the incentives are aligned against stopping criminals in deep-blue jurisdictions.
In a Zoom call about a mental health proposition, Gov. Gavin Newsom says he was at a Target and saw someone walk out without paying.
He asked a worker why the person steals and they blamed the Governor before looking at him twice and recognizing him.

Now Governor Newsom knows what Californians feel like when they go to the store and everything is chained up or in lockboxes, and thieves still stroll out of stores with merchandise.
Rampant theft has caused many stores to leave California altogether.
If Newsom wants to be President, perhaps he should solve the crime problem in his own community first.
But maybe that is too much to ask.
