“Woke” leftists are deeply entitled.
That’s why they believe they can get away with anything.
And a far-left judge literally found herself in hot water over this controversy.
Social media has become an idiot test in some ways.
People routinely blow up their careers by posting wildly inappropriate pictures and messages on public forums, then they complain when they get caught.
Such was the case with Las Vegas Judge Erika Ballou, who ran on a Democratic Socialists of America platform.
Ballou committed multiple ethics violations in social media posts.
She complained that her duties as a judge were interfering with her vibe at a Billie Eilish concert.
In a separate photo, she appeared in a hot tub with two public defenders.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline filed two complaints against Judge Ballou.
The first complaint read, “While attending a music festival on Sunday, September 19, 2021, Judge Ballou published an inappropriate statement about her judicial duties on social media. At 10:46 p.m., Judge Ballou posted on Instagram, ‘Life is STILL beautiful, despite the fact that Billie Eilish doesn’t START for 30 minutes and I have an 8:30 calendar tomorrow,’ and included the hashtags, “#VacateTheShitOuttaOutofCustodyCases’ and ‘#WhereInTheWorldIsCarmenSanDiego.’”
The second complaint read, “In April of 2022, Judge Ballou published an inappropriate statement on social media. Judge Ballou posted a photograph on her Facebook page of herself in a hot tub with two public defenders, Shana Brouwers and Robson Hauser, with the caption, ‘Robson is surrounded by great tits.’”
It should go without saying that posting messages like these on social media would be damaging.
But leftists do not seem to care because they have gotten away with so much.
The complaint added that Judge Ballou violated the Code on Conduct, which states that “[a] judge shall act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the independence, integrity, and impartiality of the judiciary and shall avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety…The duties of a judicial office…shall take precedence over all of the judge’s personal and extrajudicial activities…A judge shall not convey or permit others to convey the impression that any person or organization is in a position to influence the judge.”
Judge Ballou has also made absurd anti-police statements.
She told a black defendant who was accused of battery against a police officer, “You’re the one making the decisions not to walk away from cops. You’re a Black man in America. You know you don’t want to be nowhere where cops are…You know you don’t want to be nowhere where cops are cause I know I don’t, and I’m a middle-aged, middle-class Black woman. I don’t want to be around where the cops are because I don’t know if I’m going to walk away alive or not.”
A court date has not yet been set for a hearing on her alleged ethics violations.
