Many Americans have turned their backs on corporate media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC due to their overt left-leaning bias.
For many, these outlets serve as nothing more than state media for the Joe Biden administration.
And eyes rolled after this former CNN host announced his candidacy for public office.
This CNN pundit hopes to bring his radical-left wing politics to Washington D.C.
When CNN first hit the airwaves, it broke ground as the first 24/7 new station, bringing headlines around the clock to a news-hungry audience.
These days, CNN has a reputation for its far-left-wing bias, which many viewers cannot stomach, resulting in CNN’s viewership ranking rather low among cable news networks.
Former CNN talking head and host John Avlon in particular gained a reputation for his hatred of Donald Trump and Donald Trump supporters.
On Wednesday, John Avlon made it clear that he wants to take his leftist ways to Washington, D.C. after announcing his plan to run for Congress as a Democrat in New York’s 1st Congressional District.
John Avlon posted a video on X to announce his candidacy on Wednesday, with the caption, “It’s official: I’m running for Congress in #NY01 because there’s too much at stake for the country & community I love. Long Island families deserve someone who fights for their values, not Trump’s. It’s time for us all to get off the sidelines. Join Me.”

In the video, John Avlon says, “Our democracy is in danger. This election is not a drill. It’s up to all of us to step up and get off the sidelines.”
He added, “We need to build the broadest possible coalition to defeat Donald Trump, defend our democracy and win back the House from his Maga minions who don’t even seem interested in solving problems.”
Republican Congressman Nick LaLota, who currently serves New York’s 1st District, slammed John Avlon’s candidacy, claiming that Avlon knows nothing about the district.
Per Will Kiley, a spokesman for LaLota’s campaign, congressional hopeful John Avlon is “a Manhattan elitist without any attachments to Long Island other than his summer home in the Hamptons.”
Kiley added, “Avlon knows nothing about Suffolk County other than Sag Harbor croquet matches and summer cocktail parties in Bridgehampton.”
What John Avlon’s candidacy reveals about CNN and the corporate media
Many Americans have stopped watching cable television, especially news outlets like CNN.
At the end of the day, these Americans feel like New York elitists like Avlon have no clue how the world works, and are sick and tired of their constant vitriol against Donald Trump and his supporters.
For many, Avlon’s candidacy as a Democrat is hardly surprising, despite his calls for centrism in America.
As far as the bigger picture is concerned, New York’s first district will matter tremendously this November, especially given the nearly split nature of the House of Representatives.
