All across America, people are terrified to leave their homes as a result of a recent spike in crime.
This surge in crime can be seen in nearly every single city and community in America, and there does not appear to be an end in sight.
But Eric Adams is shaking in fear after seeing this devastating poll.
In 2020, many cities completely upended their criminal justice systems with pro-crime policies such as cashless bail and defunding of the police.
The results have been catastrophic.
Crime exploded in New York City, for example after the city rammed a host of these pro-crime policies into law in reaction to the 2020 George Floyd killing.
Crime tops Big Apple voters’ concerns in new poll
Now many New Yorkers report they’re terrified of crime and are often afraid to leave their home.
In fact, in a recent poll taken by Quinnipiac of 1,310 registered New York City voters, 41% of respondents said crime is the most pressing issue facing New York City today.
Crime came in as the top issue, with affordable housing coming in at a distant second with only 17%.
According to data released this past November by the New York City Police Department, robbery is up 32.4 percent, rape was up 10.9 percent, and burglary is up 29.1 percent over the last year.
The city does not seem ready to take any meaningful action anytime soon.
New York City is run almost exclusively by Democrats who face criticism for hampering police efforts to combat the crime surge.
With crime terrifying law-abiding citizens and small business owners in the Big Apple, this new poll shows elected officials could have hell to pay with their constituents unless they clean up the city.
