It was supposed to be a time for him to just kick back and relax.
But there’s no way he could have foreseen what was about to happen to him.
Now a California man on a Vegas vacation got stung in more ways than one.
Michael Farchi of Agoura Hills, California, was vacationing with his family at the Venetian’s Palazzo tower on December 26th.
But his planned R and R went horribly wrong.
Recounting the rather unpleasant experience to KABC, Farchi said, “I woke up with a sharp pain in my private area. I didn’t know what it was. I reached my hand to see what was happening under the covers and got another sharp pain.”
He continued, “I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area. It felt like a sharp glass or a knife.”
Closer inspection would reveal a strange culprit.
Not your normal Vegas hotel room guest
Farchi added, “I went to the restroom, and I saw a scorpion hanging on my underwear.”

The entire creepy experience led Farchi and his family to check out of the hotel early.
They left the next day, on the 27th, and according to KLAS the hospital comped his room.
But, understandably, the entire incident left Farchi feeling more than just a little bit stung.
That’s especially true since, according to Farchi, some pain still lingers.
He also told KLAS that he has no idea how the orange scorpion found its way into his hotel room, adding, “I didn’t even ask how it got in the room. It was just under my cover.”
Farchi’s attorney, Brian Virag, said the scorpion’s sting has been a source of trauma for his client.
A complete report was filed with the property owners detailing the incident, saying that Farchi had been “bitten by a scorpion on my groin/testicles” around 8 a.m.
The report further chronicled that Farchi told hotel staff he was in “a lot of pain.”
It noted that he blamed The Venetian for the incident adding that the scorpion “was in the bed when” he was sleeping.
Farchi also claimed that he was diagnosed with a scorpion sting at a local hospital following the incident.
The entire ordeal has led Farchi to sue for an unspecified amount.
For his part, he still finds it difficult to process what had happened, saying, “Everybody was in shock, nobody believed. Even I couldn’t believe it.”
Attorney: “Nobody needs to be exposed to deadly scorpions while they’re sleeping”
Virag said, “Nobody staying in Vegas needs to be exposed to deadly scorpions while they’re sleeping, let alone on their private parts, their testicles.”
The hotel told KLAS, “The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident.”
Virag maintains that he is confident that the resort has policies and procedures in place to avoid situations like that which his client endured.
However, he says that it’s an entirely different thing to ensure that the procedures are followed.
As for any lingering effects, no doubt Farchi wishes that what happened in Vegas would stay in Vegas.
