The 2021 elections in the Commonwealth of Virginia brought record turnout of highly engaged parents who have had their fill of closed schools and other COVID insanity.
Governor Glenn Youngkin defeated former Governor and Clinton bagman Terry McAuliffe when parents for Youngkin showed up in droves to vote against tyrannical COVID-crazed school boards, heavily influenced by teachers unions in the tank for McAuliffe.
But now Virginia’s school boards are lashing out at parents who want control over their child’s education.
Youngkin went to work on Day One signing an order removing anti-science mask mandates to allow parents to decide if their children wear masks or not.
Virginia school boards are furious and are now telling Governor Youngkin and parents to shut up and follow their rules.

Naturally, the school boards are suing Youngkin, claiming his executive order is unconstitutional, saying “Article 8, Section 7 of Virginia’s constitution, which asserts that ‘the supervision of schools in each school division shall be vested in a school board.”
The school boards that signed on to the lawsuit are Alexandria City Public Schools, Arlington Public Schools, Falls Church City Public Schools, Hampton City Schools, Prince William County Public Schools, and Richmond Public Schools.
Analysts on the Left and Right say that Youngkin’s election victory hinged upon his narrowing traditional Democrat margins in the suburbs by giving a voice to parents fed up with schools being shut down and nonsensical and unscientific school guidelines for COVID written by radical teachers unions.
CDC guidance on mask mandates has turned out to be flawed and guidelines were found to have been written by those same teachers unions.
According to The Atlantic, “The American Federation of Teachers, the nation’s second-largest teachers’ union, had private exchanges with CDC officials prior to new school guidance being issued under CDC Director Rochelle Walensky’s tenure, and some of the union’s suggestions were added nearly verbatim. In September, Walensky overruled her agency’s advisory committee by endorsing the use of COVID-vaccine booster shots for teachers and other workers deemed at high risk of exposure, thereby aligning the CDC more closely with President Joe Biden’s position.”
The Virginia Supreme Court is expected to rule on this by the end of the week.
Given Youngkin’s success in the Virginia election, political handicappers expect Republican Congressional candidates to make parental choice on COVID protocols in schools a high priority as the midterm election campaign heats up.
