Democrats are worried after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stepped up to show the GOP Congressional Brass Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) how to actually fight the Left.
But now, the blue state governor tapped as Joe Biden’s apparent heir has a more immediate problem.
And Gavin Newsom is seething after this devastating report that left Ron DeSantis laughing.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just may have helped save the Republican Party from RINO McConnell’s “Mitching Out ” plan to torpedo the Midterms by de-energizing Conservtive grassroots and yanking funding from America First candidates.
Newsom and the Democrats don’t know how to deal with a squared away conservative fighter
Now with the Midterm elections rapidly approaching, Democrats are struggling to deal with a top Republican who has his ducks in a row – not to mention isn’t actively working against Conservatives.
Nevertheless, Democrats are already focused on the 2024 Presidential Election and think attacking Ron DeSantis is a winning message to campaign on both now and after November.
The Democrat Party rank-and-file also appear increasingly eager for Joe Biden not to run again, as evidenced by polling data as well as prominent Democrats offering lukewarm support for a 2024 bid.
That’s why California Governor Gavin Newsom is doing all he can to raise his profile as a potential fill-in for 2024.
Newsom has taken failed cheap shots at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and even challenged him to a debate, which makes no sense.
The “with their feet” poll shows Newsom has a tough row to hoe against DeSantis
Californians are voting with their feet by relocating to Florida, the leader in net positive internal U.S. migration.
While Newsom has concerned himself with latching onto DeSantis’s rising star, his own state has gone to pot.
People are fleeing the high taxes, burdensome regulation, cultural radicalism, and the rising crime.
And California crime shot up dramatically in the midst of Newsom’s draconian COVID lockdowns.
Timcast News reported that “The latest annual report from the California Study on Violence Experiences across the Lifespan (CalVEX) found that one in five Californians (18 percent) experienced physical violence or sexual violence in the past year, and that one in 25 state residents (1.1 million Californians) reported physical or sexual violence from a partner in the last year. Researchers at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine led the study and concluded that violence increased because of the pandemic response, linking the increase to the economic impact sustained by state residents.”
Lockdowns were a sure sign of trouble
While the Left would love to blame the pandemic for all their failings, it is clear the authoritarian response of leftist governors like Gavin Newsom was the real crisis.
Due to Newsom’s lockdowns, 52% of California businesses closed down at the outset of the pandemic, and 36% of the state’s small businesses remained closed a year later.
Those economic stressors contributed to the sharp rise in crime, particularly domestic crime.
Anita Raj, PhD—professor at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and Division of Social Sciences, and the principal investigator of the report—wrote in a statement, “Our findings suggest the rising rates of violence are linked to the harsher social climate, economic insecurity, and poorer physical and mental health that many Californians have experienced over the last few years due to the pandemic.”
Instead of picking fights with Ron DeSantis trying to score points on the Left’s disdain for the governor who kept the Sunshine State free, Newsom should be concerned about the Golden State’s residents that are either fleeing or attempting to recall him.
