Gavin Newsom desperately wants to be president.
Too bad for him that Joe Biden is standing in his way.
But Newsom is finished after one shocking new report.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has his eye on stepping in for Joe Biden should he not be the Democratic nominee in 2024.
Newsom has attempted to raise his profile by picking fights with red-state governors, crashing the GOP primary debate, and embarking on foreign press tours.
But Newsom dropped the ball in his own state.
It turns out that Californians do not like him very much.
The Los Angeles Times reported that “Newsom’s standing among California voters has hit an all-time low, with 49% disapproving of his performance as governor, according to a new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times. The survey showed Newsom’s popularity has tumbled this year as he continues to amplify his national profile and campaign outside of the Golden State to support President Biden and attack Republican governors and their conservative political agendas.”
Instead of angling for the spotlight, Newsom had the chance to look after his own state.
But after Newsom survived a recall effort against Larry Elder, Newsom set his sights bigger.
The Times added that “Newsom’s approval rating was 44% in the late October poll, an 11-point slide from February when 55% of voters approved of his performance. His disapproval among California voters increased 10 percentage points from earlier this year.”
Even leftist members of the Democratic Party are fed up with Newsom.
Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks lamented on Twitter, “California is *without question* a sh*t show under Newsom. But I guess propping up proven failures is what the Democratic party excels at these days.”
During a segment of her show, she went off on California’s rampant crime and nonsensical energy policies.
Kasparian complained, “They just banned the sale of any new gas-powered cars or gas stoves…And so the technology that you have at your home, the gas stove that you have at your home, if it breaks, not only are you not able to buy a new one, but it gets increasingly more difficult, you get what I’m saying?”
If so-called progressives like The Young Turks are getting fed up with California politics, moderates and the remaining Republicans are reaching their wit’s end.
And Newsom does not seem to care.
