Promoting electric vehicles has become a top policy priority for the radical left in recent years.
However, more and more problems continue to arise as electric vehicles begin to roll out in increasing numbers.
Now environmentalists are fuming after these shocking malfunctions threaten their green agenda
Electric bikes are proving to be a major headache for lawmakers in the Big Apple
If you have visited an American city recently, then you have likely seen a great number of electric forms of transportation littering the streets, whether it is electric bikes or scooters.
Many American cities have welcomed these electric forms of transportation as a direct result of the Left’s green energy push, which places a high value on electric vehicles.
However, much like with electric cars, these alternative forms of transportation are proving to be more trouble than they are worth in many cases.
In New York City for example, electric bikes are catching on fire left and right, creating headaches for taxpayers, commuters, and first responders.
The Gothamist newspaper detailed the sinister nature of these electric bikes, claiming “New York City firefighters responded to 267 fires caused by faulty lithium-ion batteries in 2023 — about 20% more than in 2022 — even as lawmakers have introduced new safety measures.”
The Gothamist added, “The number of deaths from battery fires also increased in 2023, tripling to 18 from six the previous year, according to FDNY data reviewed by Gothamist.”
The proliferation of electric bikes across New York and other major cities are a direct result of the federal government and local governments push to increase electric transportation in their quest to solve the so-called “climate crisis.”
Nicholas Barlett, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Fire Marshall, has since spoken out on the matter, claiming “The data in the past few years shows an alarming trend of injuries and deaths, as demonstrated by entities such as NYFD and the UL Fire Safety Research Institute.”
He added, “The fires and explosions are attributed to a wide variety of causes such as mismatched chargers, overcharging, uncertified/Listed batteries, poor manufacturing quality, homemade devices, etc.”
New York City lawmakers such as Mayor Eric Adams have remained quiet on the issue after advocating for these forms of transportation in the past.
The Left’s obsession with electric vehicles has come back to haunt them
Like many of the Left’s radical energy solutions, the proliferation of electric bikes and scooters across American cities have caused countless problems.
Electric forms of transportation like E bikes are dangerous and have resulted in many deaths, yet lawmakers are not poised to act any time soon.
Many on the Left argue that even though people are dying from electric vehicle problems, the benefit to the environment is somehow justifiable.
