Woke radicals on college campuses truly believe they know what’s best for all individuals, groups, and society at large.
As Democrats continue to cave to extreme leftists, those students are getting an opportunity to experiment with implementing their woke worldview.
And now Seattle’s University of Gaza is showing Americans exactly what life is like when the Left has total control.
Seattle: The wokest place on earth
During the so-called “Summer of Love” in 2020, Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots caused chaos, property damage, assaults, rape, and even murder.
Seattle – which is nearly 60% white and less than 6% black – was one of the hot spots for the not-so-peaceful BLM protests.
And out of the BLM movement, CHAZ was born in the Emerald City.
CHAZ stands for, “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.”
Capitol Hill is a heavily populated area of Seattle, known for its nightlife and large gay community.
And now it’s also known for CHAZ.
In June 2020, mostly white BLM rioters in Capitol Hill repeatedly clashed with Seattle police.
Once Seattle and Washington state Democrat politicians made it clear they were backing the violent protesters over the police, the woke radicals created a two-block “autonomous zone.”
While there, they set up a socialist market, established “no hate speech” rules, and assaulted police officers.
The residents of CHAZ threw rocks and bottles at law enforcement officers, shot fireworks at them, and shined lasers into their eyes.
There were also four shootings.
While Democrat Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan described CHAZ as “a block party,” police finally had enough in July.
Officers tore down barriers and forcibly removed the rioters.
The following day, the police department was set on fire while officers were inside.
But despite CHAZ being an unmitigated disaster, Seattle’s extreme leftists are at it again.
Welcome to the University of Gaza – in Seattle
Instead of CHAZ on Capitol Hill, now woke pro-Hamas supporters have taken an area of the University of Washington in Seattle.
Seattle’s AM 770 KTTH host Jason Rantz is reporting the anti-Israel students are labeling a “liberated zone” that they’re calling the “University of Gaza.”
There are technically two different encampments making up the University of Gaza.
One is run by the UW Progressive Student Union.
The other is led by UW United Front for Palestinian Liberation – who wanted their own effort because, as Rantz put it, they believe the Progressive Student Union is “too white.”
According to Rantz, there are at least 50 tents set up in the encampment, wooden pallets are being used as walls, and the protesters are making shields.
Rantz also says the radical antisemitic protesters are wearing, “COVID-era masks” to disguise their identities – which is ironic coming from the same people who claim cancel culture is really “accountability culture.”
The University of Gaza – in Seattle, Washington, USA – has some head-scratching rules in place for a so-called, “liberated zone.”
Rantz reports that there is no free speech at the University of Gaza.
There are rules posted on fliers that demand encampment residents “not speak to any authorities — police officers, administrators, or press — without first consulting a designated liaison.”
These protestors – who likely are in favor of open borders here in America – are not allowing authorities or anyone who doesn’t believe in a “free Palestine” to enter the premises.
And they’re spreading fliers filled with factually inaccurate propaganda about Israel and Jews.
Professors react to student occupation
Rantz spoke to a UW professor who tried to film the goings on within the University of Gaza.
“I decided to do some filming and they kind of freaked out,” Professor Stuart Reges told Rantz. “They were they were saying, ‘Cover your face, cover your face. This man is filming! Oh my God.’ And then they said ‘You’re not allowed to do this.’ And I said, ‘What do you mean, this is a public space?’ (They responded) ‘No, it’s not. It’s a private space. You’re not allowed to do this here.”
Reges told Rantz he believes UW president Ana Mari Cauce is “feckless” for not putting a stop to the encampment.
Meanwhile, Rantz reports that other university faculty are 100% behind the protestors occupying campus.
The American Association of University Professors UW listserv (AAUP-UW) sent out an internal e-mail celebrating the student protestors’ efforts.
Professor James Pfeiffer, the university’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion even reached out to encampment leadership offering encouragement.
“It is remarkable how committed these students are given the possible risk to themselves and their futures,” Pfeiffer wrote in an e-mail. “The students will not let us turn away from the appalling war crimes the U.S. is funding, and they deserve faculty support and protection.”
Meanwhile, an Associate Professor in the Department of German Studies reached out to the protestors to let them know he was rallying support outside of campus and the community would be watching how the protestors were treated.
Unfortunately, it’s not a good time to be a Jewish student at the University of Washington.
