The Bay State for many years took pride in their welcoming attitude they had toward illegal immigration.
But millions of illegal aliens have arrived since Biden’s inauguration, complicating things for those who put out the proverbial welcome mat.
Now the Massachusetts Governor is demanding that Texas officials save her state from Democrat disaster.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey (D) has a history of advocating for and making allowances in the budget for illegal aliens.
Healey signed a state budget into law last month that includes an additional $426 million for housing for illegal aliens.
The budget allocation comes even as the Bay State ranks 7th out of 50 for outward migration, thanks to the poor business environment and confiscatory tax rates that earned the state the nickname of “Taxachusetts.”
As tens of thousands have arrived in Healey’s sanctuary state, the problem has become a full-blown crisis.
Adding insult to injury, the state has even enacted laws that prevent law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration officials.
Healey issued a state of emergency last summer and the city of Boston has made plans to house illegal aliens in former veterans’ housing as the city’s resources have been exhausted.
Emergency Assistance Director: “We do not have the space, providers or funding”
Emergency Assistance Director Scott Rice said in a statement, “We have said for months now that our system is at capacity, and we do not have the space, providers or funding to continue expanding.”
The emergency shelter system in Massachusetts has a capacity limit of 7,500 families, and it reached that limit in November.
Back in 2019, a state judge was charged after helping an illegal alien in her courtroom escape apprehension by an ICE agent.
Healey was the state’s attorney general at the time and called the indictment “a radical and politically-motivated attack on our state and the independence of our court.”
Now, in a reversal, coinciding with voters’ rightward shift on immigration issues, Healey is sending state officials to Texas in the hopes that officials there will steer illegal aliens away from Massachusetts.
Rice led the delegation to the Lone Star State.
Massachusetts officials want Texans to tell illegal aliens to stay away
In a statement, he said, “This trip is an important opportunity to meet with families arriving in the U.S. and the organizations that work with them at the border to make sure they have accurate information about the lack of shelter space in Massachusetts.”
He continued, “It is essential that we get the word out that our shelters are full so that families can plan accordingly to make sure they have a safe place to go.”
Rice, accompanied by other Massachusetts leaders, is scheduled to make stops in McAllen, Brownsville, Hidalgo and San Antonio, all of which are points areas with large populations of immigrants that eventually make their way to Massachusetts.
An estimated ten million illegal aliens have arrived in the country in the last four years as President Biden reversed Trump-era policies that limited migration.
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott (R) has bused illegal aliens to sanctuary cities and states as the effects of the Biden border have been even more detrimental to his state’s services and resources.
Immigration consistently has ranked as a top concern of voters in polling during this election year.
