It’s just not safe to live in or do business in large swathes of the Big Apple these days.

There are many reasons for this but much of it has to do with policy decisions by Democrat leaders.

Now a new video shows an NYC luxury shop robbed in broad daylight after one regrettable decision.

Hardly a week goes by without violent criminal activity making national headlines in New York City.

The streets are unsafe for police and the criminals know it and take full advantage.

City cops are retiring in record numbers and replacements are getting harder to come by as prosecutors who won’t prosecute allow criminals right back onto the streets after their arrests.

Another theft by gunpoint in broad daylight in NYC

The popular social media account Libs of TikTok shared a video of an armed robbery at a New York City Gucci store.

The gun-wielding thugs got away with $50,000 in stolen merchandise.

Under normal circumstances, one would say that the business being robbed in a situation like this bears zero responsibility for such brazen criminal activity.

But we live in 2024 America and idiocy in business management and public policy are proving to be less and less the exception to the rule.

All too often these days we find that criminal activity is tolerated if not encouraged by those who ought to know better, and this only sets the stage for more lawlessness.

Virtue-signaling doesn’t help in real life

Gucci, not necessarily this individual store but the company, has a history of tolerating and encouraging bad behavior.

Gucci is owned by Kering and Kering went all-in on the radical social justice leftist movement during the summer of 2020 after the death of George Floyd.

At the time, looters and rioters destroyed multiple cities across the United States.

CNN covered the mayhem using rose-colored “Fiery but mostly peaceful” descriptions for the violent provocateurs who were burning down buildings.

All the while, Kering was doling out cash to the very groups that were responsible for the civil unrest.

In a post on the company’s website dated June 1, 2020, “Kering and its brands (Gucci is prominently listed) stand in solidarity against racism. Words alone are not enough and [we] want to contribute to organizations focused on combating systemic racism and ending police violence towards the Black community in the United States.” 

The post continued, “Today, on behalf of all its brands, Kering is making a donation to Campaign Zero, an organization that aims to reduce police violence in the United States.”

The problem here is that Campaign Zero, the direct recipient of Kering’s dollars, actively works to defund and reduce policing.

That would be the same policing that would have come in handy on the day of the robbery.

Campaign Zero proclaims on its website, “We can live in a world beyond policing.” 

The group aims to “Shrink the Reliance and Power of the Police” and “End Mass Incarceration by “dismantling our criminal legal system.”

In other words, Gucci’s parent company is donating money to groups peddling pure radicalism.

The old saying is that a conservative is what you call a leftist who got mugged.

For the benefit of their employees, hopefully, this incident makes this company and others understand that leftist virtue-signaling has real and negative consequences.

Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later given rising political tension.

It was a jaw-dropping decision but not an unexpected one given where it occurred.

New York City has proven to be the second capital of the unofficial Stop Trump movement, only behind Washington, D.C.

Donald Trump was fined a jaw-dropping $355 million in a civil fraud verdict in the Big Apple this week.

Turley: Ruling “grotesque, shocks the conscience”

Professor Jonathan Turley wrote in The Hill, “The size of the damages is grotesque and should shock the conscience of any judge on appeal. Even if the Democrat-appointed judges on the New York Court of Appeals were to ignore the obvious inequity and unfairness, the United States Supreme Court could intervene.”

In reaction to the ruling, Trump said, “I paid approximately $300 million dollars in taxes as the migrants come in and take over New York, and they want me out. These are radical Left Democrats, they are lunatics. It’s election interference.”

If Trump is indignant, and many say rightfully so, at least he can take some solace in knowing that others agree that he’s being treated extremely unfairly.

Anger and disgust over the verdict have led some Trump-supporting truckers to refuse to transport loads to and from New York City.

A driver called Chicago Ray spoke to several of his fellow truckers and they all agreed to stiff the Big Apple.

Ray says that the group had alerted their bosses that beginning Monday, they would no longer work in New York.

Trucker to New York: No deliveries for you

In the video, Ray says, “I’ve been on the radio talking to drivers for the last hour, hour fifteen minutes. I’ve talked to at least ten drivers, they’re going to start refusing loads in New York City starting Monday. I don’t know how far across the country this is, or how many truckers are going to start denying loads to New York City.” 

He continued, saying, “I tell you what, you f*** around and find out. We are tired of you leftists f***ing with Trump. Motherf***ers are getting tired of this s**t. Our bosses ain’t gonna care about these loads, we will just go somewhere else. Do you know how f***ing hard it is to get into New York City with one of these?”

Ray added, “I don’t wish nothing on nobody, but what I am hearing, this is real. We will see, leave Trump the f**k alone with the bulls***. It’s election interference. I hate to say it, but truckers are for Trump. Ain’t no motherf***ers are for Biden.”

Support for the movement gained steam on social media.

One X user wrote, “Good morning. It’s Sunday February 18th and I’m still not going to New York. I looked through some of the comments from yesterday and there’s one thing that’s for sure. You can call me every name in the book and I’m still not going to deliver to New York. I do find it funny though, the people that say that it’s not going to make a difference, sure are the angriest.”

In the end, this is just one small consequence of unfair and unprecedented lawfare being waged against a former and potentially future President.

If it can happen to Trump it can happen to anyone.

In today’s world, many young people are addicted to sharing their lives online, especially pertaining to the rich and famous. 

Some people, known as influencers, have found a way to make money in the process through sponsorships, ad deals and promoting so-called “exclusive content.”

Influencer Corinna Kopf has become one of the most popular influencers on the internet, boasting 6.8 million followers on Instagram and 4.7 followers on TikTok. 


However, criminals just recently broke into Kopf’s residence in Los Angeles, reminding Kopf and others of the danger of posting the intimate details of their life online, especially in the crime ridden city of Los Angeles. 

Per TMZ, “OnlyFans model and Fortnite gamer Corinna Kopf has a mess to go through when she gets home … because her place in Los Angeles got hit by burglars.  Law enforcement tells TMZ … Corinna’s home was burglarized last week, with thieves smashing through glass to get inside her house.”

TMZ added, “We’re told the incident went down while Corinna was out of town … and she got a notification on her phone that someone had broken into her place.  Cops say someone from Corinna’s team notified police, who rushed up to her pad … but by the time cops and her people got there, the burglars were gone.”

According to police, it is not clear what or how much was stolen, and at this time no arrests have been made and the case is currently ongoing. 

Los Angeles has seen a massive spike in crime in recent years, as a direct result of Democrat lawmakers upending the criminal justice system to favor criminals. 

Law enforcement officers are typically overwhelmed, and even if they apprehend the correct suspects, these suspects often walk out of jail without paying much bail if any.

Many large cities across the nation have completely surrendered to the “woke” mob, making it easier than ever to get away with committing crimes.

Now a judge in John Fetterman’s state was involved in one incident that will leave your jaw on the floor.

Pro-crime policies implemented by George Soros-backed district attorneys have allowed career criminals to get back on the street and wreak more havoc.

But one judge might not be so lucky.

Magisterial District Judge Sonya M. McKnight was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder after allegedly shooting her ex-boyfriend in the head while he was asleep.

The New York Post reported that ex-boyfriend Michael McCoy “had tried ‘numerous times’ to end his one-year relationship with McKnight, as well as trying to get her to move out of his home before she allegedly attempted to kill him. McCoy had returned home from a tavern to find McKnight relaxing on his couch in her pajamas and again told her she needed to leave, saying he would enlist the help of her mother to get her out of his home if he had to. She allegedly agreed to go.”

Later that night, McCoy woke up bleeding and unable to see after being shot in the head.

At first, McKnight acted as if McCoy’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

According to the police report, McKnight said, “Mike, what did you do to yourself?” 

However, the arrest affidavit stated that a gun registered to McKnight was found at the scene, and her hands tested positive for gunshot residue.

This is not the first time that McKnight has been involved in a domestic shooting incident.

Back in 2019, McKnight shot her estranged husband Enoch McKnight in the groin, but was never charged because the shooting was deemed to be in self-defense.

The Office of the Attorney General said in a statement regarding the 2019 shooting, “We can confirm the investigation is closed, and no charges have been filed…The Office of Attorney General completed a careful review of the evidence in this case, including but not limited to interviewing all witnesses, analyzing phone data and records, reviewing crime scene evidence as well as surveillance and reenactment videos…We found that Ms. McKnight acted in self-defense, which is why our office did not file charges.”

McKnight is currently suspended from judicial duties.

If convicted, she could face up to 40 years in prison.

New York Attorney General Letitia James vowed to “get Trump” during her campaign, but she could not find any criminal charges against Donald Trump.

Instead, James filed a civil suit against Trump claiming fraud because he allegedly overvalued his real estate properties in order to secure bank loans.

The loans were paid back with interest, so there was no injured party, but that did not matter.

Democrat Judge Arthur Engoron hit Trump with a $355 million fine and barred him and his sons from operational control of the business.

While Democrats took a victory lap, people in the business community were furious.

They wanted to know what would stop the government from coming after them next.

That forced Governor Kathy Hochul to assure businesses that they had “nothing to worry about.”

Hochul sat for a radio interview and said, “I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior.”

They are “different” insofar as they have not gotten cross with the Democrat Party.

Every real estate developer inflates his assets, then the banks do their assessment, and determine whether or not they want to lend the money.

In this instance, the bank in question said that it wanted to do business with Trump again.

This was clearly a political hit job and business owners see it for what it is.

Hochul added, “By and large, [New York business owners] are honest people and they’re not trying to hide their assets and they’re following the rules…And so this judge determined that Donald Trump did not follow the rules. He was prosecuted and truly, the governor of the state of New York does not have a say in the size of a fine, and we want to make sure that we don’t have that level of interference.”

Trump was targeted by an AG who literally said she was going to “get Trump,” then targeted him with a bogus fraud suit.

That could happen to anybody in the state if he or she gets on the bad side of the New York Democrat machine.

But time and time again these elitists show what they really want is for everyone else to be tolerant and compassionate.

The political Left has had a checkered history on matters of race and integration, despite the fact that they seem to revel in lecturing the right on these issues.

In 1977, during a hearing about busing school children in order to desegregate public schools, now-President Joe Biden lamented that busing for the purpose of desegregation would cause his children to “grow up in a racial jungle.”

While such comments would lead to public ostracization if uttered today, some Washington, D.C. parents in a Democrat-stronghold are proving that old attitudes die hard.

Racially polarized Washington, D.C. is home to two separate elementary schools where the fate of students of each may be soon intertwined.

The Washington Post reports that nearly 60 percent of the 500 children at Maury Elementary School are White. 

Conversely, at Miner Elementary School, 80% of the kids are Black, and many are in foster homes, or are homeless, with many more on public assistance.

Enrollment numbers at Miner are on the decline.

Diversity for thee but not for me?

District officials have come up with a plan where the elementary students would spend their early education at one school and later transfer to the other.

The stated goal is to improve diversity by integrating the students in each school.

This has caused quite the blow back among parents in a community where “diversity” in any other case would be their go-to mantra.

D.C. Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn said in a statement, “As we’ve shared in our citywide community engagements, racially and socioeconomically diverse schools are one of the guiding principles of the study. We believe that all students and communities flourish when schools have diverse student bodies, provided that schools have, at a minimum, welcoming, affirming, and culturally and linguistically responsive environments for students and families.”

But not everyone is as enthusiastic.

Left-leaning parents are channeling Joe Biden from the 1970s when it comes to their own kids

Shavanna Miller is the Maury parent-teacher association co-president and warned that children can “fall through the cracks” when they move from one school to another in her comments to The Post.

Miller said, “I think it’s not just because the children have to adjust their environment. I think it’s because a whole new set of adults needs to understand the kids, understand their family, understand their needs and how to best support them.”

Jonathan Rothwell has two children enrolled at Maury and says, “From my perspective, there’s a lot of unknowns about what the quality of the school would look like. A lot of parents are already satisfied with Maury, and this jeopardizes that satisfaction.”

Rothwell also worried that teachers might leave over the integration.

Some parents have even threatened to move if the plan goes through.

Petitions against the plan have even circulated among politically left-leaning parents worried about how the integration could negatively impact their children’s education. 

An advisory committee will offer recommendations to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser in March and she will decide which recommendations should be put in place.

But the entire debate has been illuminating and is reminiscent of what’s happening now across the country where declarations of “sanctuary cities” are now embarrassing the very people who so loudly championed those policies.

Sanctimonious virtue-signaling seems less well-conceived when it impacts one’s own family.

Leftists would do well to internalize this lesson.

Governor Josh Shapiro just revealed a page from the Democrats 2024 playbook

Most Americans do not approve of Joe Biden’s job performance as President, with some polls showing his approval rating in the low 30s. 

As a result of Joe Biden’s resounding unpopularity, many Democrats are forced to run on an anti-Trump platform instead of a pro-Joe Biden platform. 

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, for example, recently went on a tirade on ABC news, lamenting Donald Trump’s record.

This November, the state of Pennsylvania will come under a microscope, as the state has a crucial Senate race, and its 19 electoral college votes will matter tremendously for the Presidential race.

That would explain the urgency behind Governor Shapiro’s message. 

On Sunday, Governor Shapiro said on ABC’s broadcast of This Week that, “Joe Biden is going to be our nominee, and I’m proud to support him. He talks about being a bridge — and let me tell you something, he helped us repair that bridge on I-95 in 12 days.”

Per Shapiro, “On the one hand, we’ve got an agent of total chaos — someone who wants to restrict our freedom and someone who puts himself first, and that is Donald Trump. I mean, consider this, remember what it was like when Donald Trump was president, he was in our faces and in our lives every day injecting chaos. Think about what will happen here in Pennsylvania if he gets his way and he does away with Obamacare, something he’s pledged to do. That means 1.2 million Pennsylvanians won’t have health insurance.”

He added, “Think about if he gets his way with a national ban on abortion. This guy is trying to take away the freedom of millions of women across this country. We’ve already seen what he’s tried to do when people go and vote and choose someone other than him, he tries to overthrow the government.”

But what Governor Shapiro said next has Trump supporters everywhere furious. He added, “This is a guy who is an agent of chaos who’s trying to restrict our freedom and every American is going to have to stand up and be counted as to whether or not they want to continue to be a voice of freedom and democracy, that this is going to be a beacon of hope to countries around the world.”

Democrats will do absolutely anything to retain control of the White House and the Senate

Shapiro’s unhinged rant on ABC last Sunday demonstrates just how much many Democrats, and some Republicans loathe Trump. 

The unfounded claims that Trump wishes to restrict freedom more than Joe Biden completely ignores a number of reports showing that Joe Biden has launched a full court press on the first and second amendments, among others. 

Joe Biden has so far allegedly censored journalists in the name of “misinformation prevention” and seeks to restrict gun rights every chance he gets. 

Many Democrats know this, even if they will not admit it, meaning that their never Trump mantra will likely become their top campaign strategy.

California EV sales are falling and threaten to jeopardize one of the state’s green goals

Leftist politicians have decided that Americans will eventually be driving electric vehicles.

But there’s overwhelming evidence that more and more people do not want them.

Now California EV sales are falling and threaten to jeopardize one of the state’s green goals.

The Golden State has mandated that all new vehicles sold by 2035 be exclusively zero-emission. 

There are all kinds of problems with this, not the least of which is whether the infrastructure will be in place for enough charging stations across the sprawling Left Coast state to make such a heavy-handed government edict feasible for tens of millions of drivers.

Public is less charged about electric vehicles these days

There is now evidence to suggest that consumers are starting to balk at the idea of forking over the cash for electric vehicles.

A new report shows that registrations of battery-electric vehicles in California fell in the fourth quarter of last year. 

This makes the second consecutive quarter where EV sales have fallen after a multi-year climb.

California registered just under 90,000 electric light passenger vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2023.

According to data compiled for the California New Car Dealers Association by Experian Automotive, this is a 10 percent decline from the 101,151 in the third quarter.

The third quarter data also showed a decline from the 102,991 EVs registered in the second quarter of 2023.

While industry pundits are reserving judgment about future trends, the latest numbers have them paying extra attention.

Brian Maas is President of the California New Car Dealers Association and the 2023 chairman of Automotive Trade Association Executives.

Maas was quoted in Automotive News saying, “The sales trend is slowing down, and it needs to go up to get to 100 percent. There is a lot of ground to cover in just 11 years. While a two-quarter downturn is not a definitive trend, it is something to monitor.”

When gas prices aren’t insane, spending tens of thousands extra on an EV just may be

What’s fueling (pardon the pun) the change in consumer preferences is that gasoline prices are lower than they were several months ago, mitigating a drawback to internal combustion engine vehicles. 

Sales of EVs, plug-in hybrids and hybrids usually rise and fall in a similar pattern to gasoline prices because of changes in operating expenses. 

Maas also points out that it is more difficult for consumers to figure out the mishmash of state and federal tax credits available to them if they purchase an electric vehicle, compared to a purchase of a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle.

He adds, “TV advertisements offer discounted financing rates and rebates at the point of sale. It is simple. That’s the touchstone people use when thinking about a rebate program. The government programs require additional education for consumers and dealers.”

Without those government incentives, the number of EVs purchased would likely be substantially lower.

Additionally, as a general rule, EVs cost more.

With interest rates running much higher compared with previous years, less expensive vehicles are needed for many on a budget to keep monthly payments more affordable.

“If consumers are looking at vehicles based on price a lot of the EVs are not competitive.” Maas said.

But just as California is hesitant to fix its troublesome power grid, the state’s politicians aren’t going to change their EV mandate unless they have no choice, or the public retires them first.

Chef Andrew Gruel, who was a judge on the Food Network show Food Truck Face Off, forcefully spoke out against the insane COVID lockdowns in California that nearly destroyed his business.

Since then, Gruel has frequently spoken out against far-left policies that are wrecking the Golden State.

Recently, Gruel called out Congresswoman Barbara Lee, who’s running for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, for proposing a ludicrous $50 per hour minimum wage.

Gruel appeared on Fox News and explained to host Laura Ingraham, “Well, let’s cut to the bottom line. Every single business in California would go under, number one…Number two, if she’s really serious about this, why don’t you go ahead and do it tomorrow and start with all the state-run employees at the DMV? Start paying them $50 an hour. See what happens.”

To Gruel’s point, the state would blow through its budget instantaneously.

California would have to dramatically raise taxes, which would drive away businesses, massively cut services, or take out loans and issue bonds, only to go into default eventually.

Gruel continued, “[T]hey’re not serious about this. This lady is a moron and narcissist who’s saying stupid things to try to get attention at best…At worst, she is trying to buy votes. This is going to lead to upward pressure on all wages…It’s going to totally inflate the entire economy of California which is already there and there will be no independent businesses in California – 100 percent of the businesses will be run by the state and they will rely on the state. It’s communism-lite.”

During a recent debate, Lee said that a $50 minimum wage was “economically sustainable.”

Such a proposal would lead to crippling unemployment and rapid business flight.

Lee is either economically illiterate, or she thinks that she can rook voters into supporting her.

Lee claimed, “I know what worker productivity means and that means that you have to make sure that your employees are taken care of and have a living wage…$104,000 for a family of one, barely enough to get by, low income because of the affordability crisis. So just do the math. Do the math.”

Leftists like Lee never “do the math.”

They just spout nonsense like a $50 minimum wage and hope enough gullible voters fall for it.

The city of Lakewood is just miles from Colorado’s capital of Denver and the two cities often help each other.

But with Denver’s immigrant shelters reaching capacity, a series of bad decisions now looks to possibly become a problem for Lakewood.

Lakewood officials got caught flirting with the idea of potentially accepting a federal grant that was offered for a facility to help the homeless.

Last month, Lakewood officials met with Denver officials and on the agenda was the illegal immigrant crisis.

When questioned about it, city Manager Kathy Hodgson said there was no plan to house immigrants in Lakewood and that the purpose of the meeting was how Lakewood could help with the crisis, although there is no official plan on how the city would help and that any assistance would be voluntary.

Hodgson said, “The situation is pretty fluid in nature. So, at that time, we learned that in the past year, Denver had received over 38,000 migrant newcomers. And this is since December of 2022, about 200 arrivals per day. That’s what we learned. Denver had spent approximately $46 million on the migrant newcomers shelter and associated support in 2023, securing housing for 4,000 people through 900 leases and providing more than 700,000 meals. Their average cost has been about $4 million per month. Denver indicated at that point that they are anticipating the costs for 2024 will be approximately $180 million.”

She continued, saying, “Due to the shift away from placing migrant newcomers in shelters, Lakewood is not being solicited for hotel, motel or congregate housing support. Denver is initiating what’s called a coordinated entry program, which is dispersing migrant groups to willing cities throughout the country and outside of the Denver metro area.”

That begs the question of why Lakewood officials would have even been part of that conversation, if they weren’t going to somehow be involved in taking in illegal immigrants?

It struck many residents as being too cute by half, and they voiced their displeasure at the prospect of importing illegal immigrants at a recent city council meeting.

Angry resident: We don’t need to import Denver’s problems to our city

One speaker at the meeting said, “Don’t we have enough problems in Lakewood without having to import them from Denver?”

In the end, this is one more example of how the political elites are not listening to the people they claim to serve.

Illegal immigration figures to play a prominent role in this November’s elections with polling showing vast majorities of Americans disapprove of how immigration and the border are being handled by President Biden and congressional Democrats.
