Chris Christie is saying “I told you so” after this move from NJ teachers’ union that will make you livid

Teachers’ unions have gotten a lot of bad press in the last year and deservedly so.

When parents were told they had to “pitch in” and help do the job that teachers were getting paid to do while they sat at home during the COVID epidemic, some of the lessons being taught in the public school system were indeed illuminating.

Now, a New Jersey teachers’ union has slandered parents in ways that will make you livid.

Former GOP presidential candidate Chis Christie rose to fame talking tough on one issue as New Jersey Governor a decade ago.

He doubled down when he decided to launch a bid for President in 2015.

Single most destructive force in education.

Last week, the New Jersey chapter of the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers union in America, set out to prove Christie was right.

The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) posted a new advertisement on YouTube that will make you want to figuratively do just what the former Governor said.

The ad condemns parents who confront school officials at school board meetings as “extremist” and claims that parents are trying to fuse politics with education.

The video says, “When extremists start attacking our schools, that’s not who we are. People who only want to fight to score political points should take that somewhere else.”

But this is utter hogwash.

Laura Zorc, executive director of Building Education for Students Together says, “Defaming parents as ‘extremists’ for standing up for their children is right out of Merrick Garland and Randi Weingarten’s playbook.”

She added, “New Jersey’s parents deserve better than this NJEA (New Jersey Education Association) slander — standing up for your children is not a political point, it is a parent’s responsibility. The NJEA should be ashamed for pretending they care more about children than their parents.”

It is indeed the teachers’ unions and public school systems, through racialized curricula and a bizarre focus on gender identity that in some cases borders on a fetish, that has seen far-left school boards voted out in local elections, even in Democrat strongholds.

AFT president and Biden administration sycophant Randi Weingarten said, “While extremist politicians are trying to drive a wedge between parents and teachers by banning books, censoring curriculum and politicizing public education, we’re focused on investing in public schools and the essential knowledge and skills students need.”

New Jersey State Sen. Edward Durr (R) made national headlines in November, 2021 when he came out of nowhere to beat the entrenched Democrat state senator, and he had his own thoughts about this.

Concerned parents are not extremists

Durr responded, “Despite what the NJEA says, parents are not extremists for expressing concerns about curriculum mandates or wanting to have a voice in their children’s education. It’s another example of the NJEA being out of touch with parents and totally tone deaf to their concerns that sensitive topics such as sex education and gender identity are not appropriate for young kids. Frankly, the NJEA is taking an extreme position by attacking parents instead of listening to them.”

Completely and absolutely 100% right on, but he wasn’t done and moved in with more.

Durr continued, “Apparently the NJEA doesn’t see the irony of telling concerned parents to ‘take that somewhere else’ when they vehemently oppose school choice that would give parents that option. They seem to have forgotten that our public schools exist to serve parents and their children, not the far-left politics of the union’s leadership. They shouldn’t be shocked that parents who feel ignored and marginalized are finally pushing back to right the ship.”

If Randi and the rest of her Democrat cohorts want to have this fight it isn’t going to work out well for them.

When a state that voted for Biden by double digits elects a Republican as governor in a campaign that was decided in the final weeks by a debate over education and the Democrats side with the bureaucracy over parents they are asking for trouble.

Smug arrogance will do these people in, every time.
