You won’t believe who wants to move in and instantly make this blue state even worse

If there’s one thing western states don’t need, it’s one more radical leftist taking up residence and running for office.

But that’s just what one blue state is getting.

And the big-city pundit wants to show up to this blue state and take over the Governor’s mansion.

Nicholas Kristof built a career out of pushing his “progressive” ideals in The New York Times and on CNN.

“I may be an idiot to leave,” he wrote in a New York Times piece. “But you all know how much I love Oregon, and how much I’ve been seared by the suffering of old friends there. So, I’ve reluctantly concluded that I should try not only to expose problems but also see if I can fix them directly.”

In a super shady move, Kristof formed a Political Action Committee to support his run for Governor of Oregon before he resigned from the paper in October.

But his plans to move into Mahonia Hall in Salem hit a snag when Oregon’s Secretary of State Shemia Fagan announced that Kristof was ineligible to run because of his residency status.

The state’s constitution requires that candidates must live there at least three years.

“The rules are the rules, and they apply equally to all candidates for office in Oregon,” Fagan wrote in a statement. “I stand by the determination of the experts in the Oregon Elections Division that Mr. Kristof does not currently meet the Constitutional requirements to run or serve as Oregon Governor.”

Now the state’s Supreme Court is set to sort out whether he’ll get on the ballot or not.

Kristof spent many of his growing up years in Yamhill, Oregon and said he’s always considered the Beaver State his home.

Problem is, he voted in New York in the 2020 elections.

But apparently, he does have friends in Oregon.

A former state Supreme Court Justice said the fact that Kristof voted in New York in 2020 would, “only undermine his residency if it established he didn’t intend for Oregon to be his permanent home.”

He’s certainly strayed from his upbringing on a farm in the Willamette Valley.

He has a degree from Harvard and studied law at Oxford.

According to his campaign website, he wants to tackle problems with drugs in the state, which are racking up a horrific death toll.

However, his approach – although vague – sounds like a hot mess waiting to happen.

In his own words, Kristof claims the state can get money, staff, and new remedies to those dealing with addiction by using pandemic policies as a model.

“These are the kinds of bureaucratic obstacles that America overcame when we faced COVID-19, and that can be solved in this space if we make the lives of kids and neighbors a top priority.”

He should take care in showing his hand – promising forever-pandemic conditions could cause a whole new wave of mental health issues.

The state has been attracting plenty of people aside from ambitious budding politicians.

Oregon is an oasis for those who want to grow their own marijuana and use it in unlimited quantities.

All drug use has also been decriminalized, including cocaine and heroin.

On second thought, how much worse can Kristof really make the state?
