The current Virginia Governor was swept into office by parents fed up with what’s happening in schools.
But Critical Race Theory is hard to root out.
And now the Republican is taking a drastic measure to put parents back in charge.
Youngkin’s first executive directive in office was to ban teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the commonwealth’s schools.
Now, he’s set up an email address that’s basically a tip line where parents can report inappropriate instruction methods.
Youngkin says he set up the tip line “for parents to send us any instances where they feel their fundamental rights are being violated, where their children are not being respected [and] where there are inherently divisive practices in their schools.”
During a radio interview he also mentioned a lesson plan uncovered at a Fairfax County high school where students played “Privilege Bingo” with white, Christian, or male children considered “privileged.”
Those from military families were also grouped into the “privileged” category.
“All you can do is shake your head and say, ‘This is exactly why I signed that executive order,’” Youngkin said.
During his campaign for Governor, Democrats, including leftist MSNBC host Joy Reid, mocked Republicans for saying that CRT is being used in Virginia schools.
But Youngkin and his Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears knew better than to buy that nonsense.
Sears is a former Vice President of Virginia’s Board of Education and knows information about how to teach using CRT methods was chucked down teachers’ throats at least as far back as 2015.
By now, she says it’s woven into the very fabric of how teachers are expected to do their jobs.
Youngkin and Sears are united in insisting that Virginia schools need to keep teaching the good, bad, and ugly history from the past.
But they refuse to allow radical leftists to keep pushing a racist agenda on children designed to make them feel automatically guilty for being born white or automatically oppressed if they were born black.
Last fall, mainstream news networks were busy blaming Republicans for politicizing school board races, however Youngkin and Sears count Independents and former Democrats among their supporters.
Many are sick of watching leftists spend all their time pushing their radical agendas instead of giving children a solid education.
“Our kids are in crisis,” one mom who voted for Biden in 2020 said when explaining why she switched sides to vote for the Republican Governor. “The learning loss is real so we’re in a place where our kids are really far behind and they need a lot of help. The need a lot of additional tutoring, they need a lot of additional time after school to help catch them up—and they’re still not focusing on that. It’s like you’re in front of your house and the driveway is really dirty, but the house is also on fire and you’re using a hose to hose off the driveway instead of putting out the fire.”
It looks like Youngkin and Sears are going to have their hands full putting out the fire.
