The Democrats’ January 6 committee witch hunt ended with a whimper as the new Congress opened.
That was probably enough bad news for Trump impeachment clown Adam Schiff for one week.
But Adam Schiff’s week really went off the rails after this big announcement.
One piece of news in an already bad 2023 really left Adam Schiff distraught
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is not having a good week.
He could face a defamation lawsuit after the Twitter Files exposed his efforts to have New York Post columnist Paul Sperry booted from the platform.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) followed through on his promise to remove certain Democrats from committee assignments in retaliation for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) doing it to Republicans when she held the Speaker’s Gavel.
Schiff will not be on the House Intelligence Committee, just deserts for his constant lying and media grandstanding.
Now Schiff’s bid to take Senator Diane Feinstein’s (D-CA) Senate seat has lost a lot of steam because California Democrat Congresswoman Katie Porter was the first to announce her intentions to run.
Porter beat Schiff to it
Porter, who barely won re-election in 2022 against Republican challenger Scott Baugh, is attempting to gain momentum as the first mover announcing a bid for the Senate seat.
And Schiff was not happy about it.
Schiff was widely viewed as the top contender to either oust the 89-year-old Feinstein or pressure her to step down.
But Porter announced first, stating in a campaign video that “The threat from so-called leaders like Mitch McConnell has too often made the United States Senate the place where rights get revoked, special interests get rewarded and our democracy gets rigged…Especially in times like these, California needs a warrior in Washington, and that’s exactly why I’m announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate in 2024.”
Schiff stated that he did not seek a leadership position in the House because he was interested in a possible Senate run.
He said in an interview, “I was persuaded by many of my colleagues to consider running for the Senate if Sen. Feinstein decides not to run for reelection in two years, so I am exploring it.”
Porter, a media darling of the Left, just made things a lot tougher for Schiff.
And he’s retaliating by hitting Porter for announcing while California is currently suffering devastating floods.
Someone close to Schiff told The Los Angeles Times that the congressman’s focus was on helping to respond to the storms and floods, “not running for Senate in the middle of a natural disaster where people are dead.”
Schiff is clearly frustrated that Porter snaked him and got in the race first.
Other California Democrats with their eye on the Senate seat are hitting Porter for the timing of her announcement.
Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) said, “Right now, California is facing severe storms and floods, and my district is facing historic weather conditions…My focus is on that. In the next few months, I will make a decision.”
The knives are already out for Feinstein’s Senate seat, and the fight will only get uglier.
