In California, and all across the nation for that matter, crime has been on the rise.
Groups of criminals, typically young people, will band together and ransack a store, grabbing whatever they can and fleeing, all within a matter of minutes.
But, Tom Hanks could not believe his eyes after the unthinkable happened to this Beverly Hills store.
Retail outlets are disappearing after years of unmitigated theft
The truth is that it will not be long before storefronts are a thing of the past, especially in Democrat-controlled parts of America.
In California in particular, businesses are struggling to stay open due to Democrat politician’s refusal to enforce the law.
Smash-and-grab robberies have become a new phenomenon, in which hoards of thieves ransack a store, and then disappear all in a matter of minutes.
In Beverly Hills, for example, many high-end retail outlets have boarded up after years of out-of-control theft.
The New York Post reported this past week that “Some of the businesses include luxury staples like “Barneys New York and Escada, with the once-popular brands having filed for bankruptcy in recent years.”
The report added, “Other big-name stores now lying empty include former locations for Chanel, Rite Aid, Barnes and Noble, Niketown, and restaurants like Chipotle and Starbucks.”
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, retail giant Nordstrom is closing its doors on its flagship store on Thursday after years of theft and violence at the location.
California Governor Gavin Newsom paid lip service to addressing the wave of robberies, saying, “The state is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to crack down on organized crime and when our local partners need further assistance, we’re ready with a helping hand.”
However, many in the Golden State are waiting to see how these words will be put into action if they are at all.
Not only are many businesses boarding up, but many are also opting to relocate to states which have less crime and more pro-business laws.
California business owners are terrified to go to work every day
Owning a small business, or being a franchisee of a large business, comes with many risks.
However, the added pressure of having your store emptied out by street thugs, who often get away with these crimes, makes things that much worse.
The last census showed that droves of Californians fled the state, which resulted in California losing an Electoral College vote for the first time in over a century.
Unless California gets a grip on its crime problem, then the state will continue to collapse.
