Many Democrat-run cities are finally throwing in the towel on over-the-top COVID restrictions.
But they do not have a good answer to the crime problem.
Now rising crime forced Amazon to do one unthinkable thing.
Democrats’ pro-crime policies are ruining several major cities, especially on the West Coast.
Seattle is one of the many Democrat-run cities experiencing a major uptick in violence.
The problem has gotten so bad that Amazon temporarily shut down its downtown Seattle facility because of violent criminal attacks in the area.
GeekWire reported that “Amazon is telling employees they can work at an alternative location due to recent crime around its downtown Seattle office at 300 Pine St . . . There are currently 1,800 employees that work at the Amazon office . . . Amazon opened the office in 2018 . . . The crime in downtown Seattle is causing many businesses, tech companies included, to either move offices or adopt a wait-and-see approach of staying remote even as COVID-19 cases recede.”
Seattle and other cities under the thumb of Democrat control have experienced a growing number of heinous attacks.

Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz said the department was “launching an initiative to curb the violent criminal behavior” in the area surrounding Amazon’s office.
Seattle is another example of why pro-crime policies do not work – giving repeat offenders a slap on the wrist only makes the problem worse.
An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement, “Given recent incidents near 3rd and Pine, we’re providing employees currently at that location with alternative office space elsewhere. We are hopeful that conditions will improve and that we will be able to bring employees back to this location when it is safe to do so.”
According to the Seattle Police Department, overall crime rose by 10% and violent crime by 20% from 2020 to 2021.
And 2020 represented the worst single-year hike in the murder rate, jumping 30% from 2019.
In Seattle, robbery, aggravated assault, arson, larceny, and motor vehicle theft were all up from 2020.
The crime is also stunting the city’s economic recovery from COVID.
For example, art gallery owner Tariqa Waters told The Wall Street Journal that lawlessness has forced her to make her Seattle gallery open by appointment only.
Waters said, “My building has been broken into multiple times. My personal health and safety has been put on the line more times than I can count removing human waste and needles.”
Democrats are repeating the mistakes of the 1970s, and the resulting high crime and city decay are occurring as expected.
