Hostility to the oil and gas industry from Biden and Congressional Democrats has been occurring since the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration.
As a result, prices for oil and gas have been steadily ticking up for the better part of the year – but that isn’t what concerns the far Left.
Now, as prices reach record highs, a radical Congresswoman is concerned about the move to ban Russian energy for one crazy reason.
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) admitted that she opposes a bill to ban energy imports from Russia – but she opposes it because it will cause an increase in U.S. domestic production of oil.
In a statement, Omar says, “I am gravely concerned that this ban will mean ramping up domestic oil production. Yet another reason why we must move to a green economy that is proven to be the most reliable and cost efficient.”
How Omar thinks moving to a green economy now when many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and dealing with inflation levels not seen in nearly half a century was left unclear.
There’s also the matter that the pie-in-the-sky “green economy” the Left seeks has never proven to be reliable or cost efficient.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) joined Rep. Omar in opposing the bill.
In an unusual chain of events, the two far-left Congresswomen were joined in opposition to the bill by a group of stalwart conservative lawmakers.
Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Dan Bishop (R-NC), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Scott DeJarlais (R-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Bill Posey (R-FL), Chip Roy (R-TX), and Tom Tiffany (R-WI) all voted against the legislation, but for different reasons.
The Republicans had no issue with banning Russian energy imports, but rather with doing so without also increasing domestic production to make up the difference.
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said, “Cutting off Russian oil is the right move. Doing so without increasing American energy production is insanity.”

Thomas Massie echoed that sentiment, saying, “I’m voting against the oil sanctions bill. Biden has no plan to enable development of traditional domestic energy sources. His plan is to buy oil from dictators in other countries, and to use high gas prices to bludgeon American consumers into adopting a leftist energy agenda.”

If Omar got the vote right, she did so for the wrong reasons.
As the Biden administration moves to import oil from America’s enemies in Iran and Venezuela, it’s reasonable to ask why that’s preferable to increasing our supply in this country.
The last thing everyday Americans need is to suffer even more at the pump because of far-left environmentalist dogma but unfortunately that’s where this administration has taken us.
