NIMBY is shorthand for “not in my back yard” – or in other words, “as long as it doesn’t impact me.”
Democrats are famous for supporting policies as long as conservatives in red states are the ones who have to bear the brunt of the negative consequences.
And now President Biden and the mayors of five of the largest blue cities in the nation are about to make this nationwide crisis even worse for everyone involved.
The disastrous effects of open borders
Even with Democrats doing all they could to block the bulk of his border-hawk policies, then-President Donald Trump was able to mitigate the vast illegal immigration problem his predecessor, Barack Obama created.
However, it didn’t take long for Obama’s former Vice President to erase all the good work Trump did during his one term in the White House.
Now with President Joe Biden leading America’s version of the Night Watch – and with his so-called “Border Czar” Vice President Kamala Harris by his side – the problem on the U.S. southern has turned into a crisis of epic proportions.
Each month hundreds of thousands of migrants flood into the United States illegally.
According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), these illegal aliens are costing American workers more than $150-Billion annually.
And there’s no slowing of the floodgates in sight.
Be careful what you ask for
Border states have been forced by the Biden Administration to handle an estimated 8-Million illegal aliens who have invaded the United States in just two and a half years under President Joe Biden’s watch.
But some Republican governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott made a bold move in sharing the problem with so-called “sanctuary cities” – that would more accurately be described as harboring havens.
Now that these big blue cities are having to deal with the infrastructural problems that were once regulated to red states – residents in these cities are starting to sing a different tune.
And those residents are now pointing the finger of blame at the Democrat mayors they elected to the office.
Knowing their cities can’t withstand the flood of illegals, and fearing the wrath of the voters – five Mayors from some of America’s largest cities have asked for a sit down meeting with President Biden.
Democrat mayors demand more of the same failed policies
Mayors Eric Adams of New York City, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, Karen Bass of Los Angeles, Mike Johnston of Denver, and Sylvester Turner of Houston are all seeking a face-to-face with Biden.
They’ve written him a letter giving the President a heads up of their demands.
And as Democrats and their open-border policies caused the crisis in the first place, it should come as no surprise that the fixes they’re asking for would only serve to exacerbate the problems.
In the letter, the Democrat mayors want more federal funds to give illegals free food and housing.
Important to note, according to the Daily Wire, the Biden Administration has already allocated $1.4-Billion to the cities in question for this same purpose.
But the mayors are coming back with their hands out asking for more handouts.
And money isn’t all the mayors are asking for.
Current federal law requires asylum seekers to be in the country for 180 days before they can apply for jobs.
The reason is, the vast majority of asylum seekers – upwards of 80% according to the FAIR – have their applications for asylum rejected.
The 180-day waiting period is meant to keep illegals from scooping up good paying jobs only to have their asylum status rejected.
It’s also to avoid having a magnet luring illegals into the country.
But the Democrat mayors want Biden to waive the waiting period so illegals can start taking jobs for lower wages than Americans will work for, further driving down stagnant wages in this country.
Waving the waiting period to work would only serve to attract even more illegal immigrants into the country and to these blue cities.
Once again, the Democrats’ answer to the problem is more of the same type of policies that created the problem to begin with.
