Violent crime has increased significantly in many of our nation’s largest (and Democrat-run) cities.
Because of this unfortunate situation, many crimes are met with a shrug but some stand out as especially heinous.
Now, police are investigating a truly horrific attack in one crime-ridden blue city.
Philadelphia police are investigating a case of a woman set on fire in the city’s Kensington neighborhood on June 16th.
According to a report the woman has been identified as 36 year-old Alyssa Morales.
Authorities are looking for the person responsible for throwing an accelerant on the young woman and setting her on fire.
Morales’ mother Leah Ann learned of the attack at a park via social media and spoke with Local TV station CBS Philly.
Morales’ said, “She’s going to live, but she’ll have permanent damage. She’s going to have to have a new face. I’m saying it, she’ll never have the face she was born with, and they said that’s the hard part when she can look in the mirror and see a different face looking back at her.”
She added that she expects her daughter to be in the hospital for at least three months.
According to a witness, Morales was seen with a man and another woman in an argument before the blaze occurred.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Frank Vanore said, “She sees the female that’s with them spray some kind of liquid towards the male and the female, and that liquid then is lit on fire.”
Vanore says the man on fire ran away and when the fire department arrived to put out the fire, Alyssa was found to have suffered severe burns.
The attack against Alyssa comes amidst a massive crime surge in recent months in Philadelphia.
According to recent reports, violent crime is on track to eclipse last year’s numbers in 6 large Democrat-run cities, including Philadelphia.
Breitbart News reports, “Philadelphia has suffered a comparable increase in violent crime under the direction of Mayor James Kenney (D), climbing an even seven percent in 2022 compared to the first half of 2021 .”
According to Alyssa’s mother, the 36 year-old has been battling heroin addiction for over a decade.
Lee Ann Morales continued, “I feel broken. It’s just like I don’t know where to go, I don’t know how to get up. She’ll never have the face she was born with. Never.”
A GoFundMe page created for the family with a $35,000 goal has been set up and so far $29,934 of the goal has been raised as of this writing.
According to the page, Alyssa suffered second and third degree burns over half her body and she was in a medically-induced coma.
The fundraiser said, “She was in too much pain to identify herself when she arrived at the hospital, and was listed as a Jane Doe for two days before her family was able to see her.”
