What’s happening in America these days will turn your stomach.
War in the Gaza strip has ignited nasty bursts of violence in big cities in the US.
And police are now hunting for a murderer after a Jewish man died at the hands of pro-Palestinian protestors in this blue state.
Americans enjoy freedom of expression, which includes the right to protest political decisions they don’t agree with.
But increasingly “protests” held by pro-Palestinian groups are crossing a line into targeted violence against Jewish Americans.
Now an elderly man paid the ultimate price for showing up at a rally in support of Israel.
A 69-year-old man died a day after he attended a pro-Israel rally near Westlake and Thousand Oaks, California.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that its looking into Paul Kessler’s death as homicide after bystanders described he had a “heated confrontation” with pro-Palestinian supporters at a competing rally.
“The nature of the altercation remains under investigation but some reports indicate that before he fell, Kessler was struck in the head with a megaphone by an individual with the pro-Palestinian event,” ABC 7 reported.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office has already determined that Kessler’s cause of death was a “homicide caused by blunt force.”
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced that it is “investigating the incident and has not ruled out the possibility of a hate crime.”
A witness who refused to be identified told ABC 7 what happened in the moments leading up to when video captured paramedics rushing to help Kessler.
“They were both on an even ground, and they were yelling at each other, and then the man brought his megaphone up and hit Paul, and Paul went down,” the witness said.
Other witnesses also told the news outlet that members from the pro-Palestinian group crossed over to confront the group gathered in support of Israel when things quickly became violent.
The sudden rise in antisemitism is shaking Jewish communities across the US.
“We are devastated to learn of the tragic death of an elderly Jewish man who was struck in the head by a megaphone wielded by a pro-Palestinian protestor in Westlake Village,” the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles explained in a statement. “Our hearts are with the family of the victim.”
The organization also noted that this is the “fourth major antisemitic crime committed in Los Angeles this year alone. Violence against our people has no place in civilized society.”
The real question is whether this tragic incident will cause Democrats to rethink their blind support for a cause that’s quickly spiraling out of control.
