Democrats have created the perfect storm inside some of America’s biggest cities.
Now one wild weekend story is illustrating exactly why it’s so hard to find officers willing to work in cities run by leftists.
And NYC cops are smoking mad after they had to chase down the last guy who shouldn’t have been on the loose.
Thanks to political wrangling, there’s a war raging in blue states between the cops tasked with keeping law and order and pro-crime defense attorneys are pushing a George Soros-style approach to propping up criminals instead of punishing them.
The ‘political will’ problem should be long gone
Instead of deterring crime, cops have found themselves playing a pointless—and increasingly dangerous—game of catch and release on a daily basis.
An extreme example cropped up in the Big Apple over the weekend when one con with 200 arrests on his rap sheet led police on a wild chase in a stolen car.
“A vehicle w/ stolen plates entering NYC didn’t stop for highway patrol,” the NYPD wrote in a release. “So @NYPD33Pct cops & detectives assisted in tracking & catching a career criminal w/ 200+ prior arrests & 7 warrants after stealing a getaway car that didn’t get him very far.”
The 29-year-old career criminal was described as “human carnage on wheels” by a law enforcement source that talked to the New York Post.
A slick surface
“It’s like he’s Teflon,” the source added, referring to Joshua Padilla. “Arrest, jail, prison — none of it means anything to him. That’s what we’re up against.”
Of course, he wouldn’t have been loose to cause so much damage if district attorneys would exert themselves when it comes to keeping career criminals off the streets.
Padilla’s arrest was like something out of a Hollywood action film.
When Padilla crashed the 2021 white Dodge Charger he had stolen, he abandoned it along with a woman who was riding shotgun.
He then leapt off a 15-foot overpass and snatched an idling van.
The chase ended with him plowing the van into an NYPD police cruiser.
Unfortunately, unlike on a Hollywood set there was no safety plan in place—average citizens were no doubt in harm’s way during Padilla’s rampage.
And now NYC taxpayers get to pay for all the damage he caused as woke DA’s continue to force honest citizens to pay for their radical pro-crime policies.
