Major Democrat strongholds are being run into the ground.
Crime and mismanagement have run rampant.
And one devastating fire proved this crisis is out of control.
Pro-crime policies implemented by far-left district attorneys have created chaos in many big cities across the country.
Los Angeles has become a poster child for bad leadership and crime run amok.
So-called progressives have allowed homelessness to spread across the city.
Homeless encampments were once confined to Skid Row downtown, but they can now be found at every underpass in Los Angeles.
And a fire at a homeless encampment underneath the 10 Freeway downtown added to Los Angeles’s nightmarish traffic.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the freeway “in downtown Los Angeles will remain closed indefinitely as the California Department of Transportation moves to repair an overpass badly damaged by an intense fire early Saturday at two storage yards in an area with multiple homeless encampments.”
In light of the incident, Mayor Karen Bass said, “Unfortunately, there is no reason to think that this is going to be over in a couple of days…We will need to come together and all cooperate until the freeway is rebuilt.”
Governor Gavin Newsom also declared a state of emergency to expedite the construction work on the freeway.
Newsom said in a statement that he acknowledged “the anxiety of millions and millions that live in this region” because 300,000 vehicles pass through that corridor on a daily basis.
Newsom anticipated the question: “When the hell is this going to get reopened?” but did not have an answer.
The L.A. Times added that the fire “could lead officials to study the safety of homeless encampments near freeways across the city. Pete Brown, a spokesman for L.A. City Councilman Kevin de León, whose district includes the site of the fire, said he believed the incident would ‘trigger a review’ of such properties.”
It should not take a catastrophic fire to determine that a homeless encampment is a safety hazard.
In Democrat machines like Los Angeles, a permit is required for everything, including faucet installations in kitchens.
But shantytowns that serve as open-air drug dens are allowed to spread across the city.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
In 2017, a massive wildfire was sparked by a cooking fire in a homeless encampment.
The problem needs to be cleaned up immediately.
Newsom showed it could be done when the streets of San Francisco were cleaned up in order to roll out the red carpet for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Too bad Newsom and the Democrats don’t care as much about serving their own constituents as much as the CCP.
