Lori Lightfoot has been one of the worst mayors in America.
Few are surprised Chicagoans wanted no more of her after they endured multiple crises during her term in office.
But while Lori Lightfoot copped to getting the boot she left everyone stunned when she uttered these two words after her loss.
Lori Lightfoot put jaws on floor after her crushing defeat
Lori Lightfoot’s reign as Mayor of Chicago is almost over.
In her bid for re-election, Lightfoot failed even to qualify for a runoff, making her the first Chicago mayor to lose in a re-election attempt.
Lightfoot secured only 17% of the voting, finishing in third place behind Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas, who received 34% of the vote, and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson, who got 20% of the vote.
That means 83% of Chicago voters did not want to see Lightfoot gain a second term.
Lightfoot couldn’t deny such overwhelming numbers of Chicago voters and conceded defeat on Wednesday stating, “We fought the right fights and we put this city on a better path. I’m grateful that we’ve worked together to remove a record number of guns off our streets, reduced homicides, and started making real progress on public safety.”
Reduced homicides?
Voters clearly didn’t agree.
Lightfoot oversaw a dangerous spike in crime, and did little about it.
In fact, Lightfoot went out of her way to demonize the cops in her own city, while Vallas was supported by the city’s police officers.
Lightfoot sealed her fate by catering to the media, instead of her actual constituents in Chicago.
For instance, Lightfoot ignored the concerns of aldermans and residents who voiced frustration over rampant crime.
Lightfoot got caught on audio cursing out Alderman Raymond Lopez.
After a looting spree, Lopez asked Lightfoot about safety measures in the face of the theft mobs, and she blew him off.
Lopez persisted, saying, “It’s not something you ignore. This is a question that I have.”
Lightfoot snapped on him and replied, “I think you’re 100% full of sh*t, is what I think.”
Lopez fired back, “F*ck you, then. Who are you to tell me I’m full of sh*t? Maybe you should come out and see what’s going on.”
Unsurprisingly, Lightfoot blamed her loss on being a black woman.
Asked if she was treated unfairly, Lightfoot answered, “I’m a black woman in America. Of course.”
This is the grievance culture that is beginning to repel people outside the hard Left.
In response to her defeat, Jonathan Turley, one of Donald Trump’s lawyers during impeachment, wrote, “There is hope for my home city yet. Lori Lightfoot is out. The greatest potential improvement for the city since 1900 when the direction of the Chicago river was reversed.”
If Democrats think they can be as radical as they want and ignore crime, they have another thing coming, and Lightfoot found out the hard way.
