Democrats can’t get out of their own way.
But their moves won’t hurt them but ordinary citizens instead.
Now a leaked memo shows NYC officials are poised to implement one dastardly plan courtesy of the Biden administration.
New York mayor Eric Adams is doing all sorts of flip flops these days.
Where he used to proclaim that illegal immigrants were welcome in his Sanctuary City he’s now done a complete one-eighty.
Over 100,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in the Big Apple since last Spring.
Adams now says that the “crisis” will “destroy” the city.
A Democrat disaster from the federal to the local level
With Joe Biden and his administration completely failing to secure the southern border and tens of thousands of people illegally crossing into the country every month, southern politicians like Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) decided it was only fair to share the wealth – by facilitating the trips for new arrivals to areas where local politicians have claimed for years they would be welcome.
New York was one of those destinations, and it turns out that it’s easier to say that people are welcome than it is to actually welcome them.
The city is now spending $10 million per day on the new arrivals.
Shelters, hospitals and other facilities are being stretched to the breaking point.
Given the current state of affairs, the city is now left with nothing but bad options.
City officials have announced that the NYPD budget is to be cut, with that money instead being earmarked for services for illegal immigrants.
NYPD overtime was already way too high in a city where officials claimed they couldn’t put enough cops on the street without it
With overtime spending also slated for cuts, Police Benevolent Association honcho Patrick Hendry sees trouble ahead and says, “It is going to be impossible for the NYPD to significantly reduce overtime unless it fixes its staffing crisis. We are still thousands of cops short, and we’re struggling to drive crime back to pre-2020 levels without adequate personnel.”
It all couldn’t have come at a worse time as crime rates have skyrocketed over the past three years.
The Big Apple Mayor’s Budget Director Jacques Jiha said in a memo that the city will “issue a directive to implement an overtime reduction initiative for our city’s four uniformed agencies.”
The NYPD, the fire department, the corrections department, and the department of sanitation, all necessary departments for the well-being of residents, will be subject to budget cuts.
Even with the reallocation of funds, the continued influx means that some immigrants that had been given indoor sleeping arrangements may not be lucky for much longer.
Adams said in an interview with PIX-11, “We’re going to have to eventually move women and children into congregant settings. Some migrants might have to move into outside tents. This is not an academic exercise, this is not a utopia. New York City cannot manage 10,000 people a month with no end in sight. That can’t happen, and that is going to undermine this entire city.”
All in all, it’s a sad state of affairs for a city that votes Democrat in every election.
Perhaps if the bottom truly falls out, as many fear it will, just maybe a change of heart might be in the offing come Election Day.
