Lara Trump just pulled the curtain back on a major blue state problem

Democrats’ lies can’t stand up to scrutiny.

So they will hate this news.

Because Lara Trump just pulled the curtain back on a major blue state problem.

Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law and Fox News contributor Lara Trump explained why businesses are flourishing in Florida, far outpacing New York.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the difference is night and day.

One state chose to institute liberty-crushing lockdowns while another allowed individuals to make their own health decisions while respecting the free market.

Lara Trump appeared on Fox & Friends to discuss a new report that shows Florida is leaving New York in the dust.

Trump said, “We know people during the COVID pandemic left blue states in search of red states so much so that New York and California lost Congressional seats.  Florida and Texas gained congressional seats, but it turns out businesses did the same thing.”

Florida saw twice as many new businesses open last year compared to the Empire State, according to the latest federal data.

The number of newly opened small businesses skyrocketed in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic as the state and its popular conservative governor largely shunned lockdowns and restrictive measures.

Those restrictive policies enticed residents of New York and California to leave at record rates.

Over 632,105 applications for new businesses were filed by Floridians last year, a 27% increase from the year before, according to federal data.

More than a third of those new businesses were opened in the state’s economic heart — the three large countries that comprise South Florida.

Not coincidentally, this area of the state has rapidly swung in the Republicans’ direction after decades of existing as a Democrat stronghold.

While New York also saw an increase in the number of business applications filed with authorities, the rate was far behind Florida’s prolific pace (309,170, or less than half the rate of Florida’s increase).

A couple of different things are at play here.

New York, California, and Illinois have seen more residents move out as remote work has made it possible to relocate to areas with overall lower cost of living and cheaper housing.

It’s also true that these solidly blue states have had more gratuitous COVID restrictions enforced on their residents, and this has stifled economic growth in these respective states.

These trends have benefited states like Florida, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona, and others.

Florida has gained a reputation as a model for conservative governance for avoiding the lengthy lockdowns seen in other parts of the country.

The state is on pace to record economic growth this year that is forecast to exceed the national average.

Florida’s population growth was second only to Texas and the state’s booming economy has elevated its Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, to national prominence.
