Democrats barely attempt to hide their contempt for citizens these days.
They have given up any pretense of caring about anything but their own power.
So New York’s Kathy Hochul infuriated NYC subway riders with this mind-numbing statement.
The Democrats have made it no secret they’re coming for people’s guns.
Some, like New York Times reporter Charles Blow, just come out and say it.
Democrat governor made an infuriating comment about gun rights
Others, like New York Governor Kathy Hochul, take the more incremental approach.
They steadily demonize guns and roll back Second Amendment rights whenever they can.
And Governor Hochul made an insane comment to justify denying New Yorkers their gun rights.
The unelected Empire State Governor said, “This whole concept that a good guy with a gun will stop the bad guys with a gun, it doesn’t hold up. And the data bears this out, so that theory is over…We don’t need guns on our streets. We don’t need people carrying guns in our subways. We don’t need people carrying guns in our schools. We don’t need people carrying in our places of worship. We don’t need them carrying them into bars or restaurants. Because that only makes people less safe.”
This is preposterous on multiple levels.
First, a police officer is a good guy with a gun – surely Hochul would want a policeman around if a criminal were trying to shoot people in a public setting.
Second, there are myriad examples of a “good guy with a gun” stopping a mass shooting in progress.
In fact, Eli Dicken recently cut a rampage short at the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana because he was legally carrying a firearm.
Mass shooters intentionally pick targets where they believe people will not have guns, e.g. malls and schools.
Gun-toting Good Samaritans stop crime
Hochul and other Democrats ignore stories of Good Samaritans intervening with a gun.
Also, it’s impossible to quantify how many instances where criminals are deterred by someone carrying a firearm.
Studies put the number as high as 500,000 per year.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, another gun grabber, said, “We will be posting signage at every entrance into Times Square informing those traveling through that the area is a gun-free zone and that licensed gun carriers and others may not enter with a gun unless otherwise specially authorized by law. As mayor of New York City and a former police officer, my top priority will always be the safety of all 8.8 million people who call this city home, so while the Supreme Court decision may have opened an additional river feeding the sea of gun violence, we are doing everything we can to dam it and keep New York the safest big city in America.”
Democrats can’t seem to understand that criminals do not care about a sign that says “gun-free zone.”
To them, it’s not a warning – it’s a beacon.
