The self-proclaimed “Squad” of far-left House Democrats caused a major stir when they secured power – and not just among Republicans.
But one Squad member is set to cause Democrat House leadership a major headache next month.
And House Democrats are racing for the panic button over a jaw-dropping revelation sure to roil some big party backers.
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) isn’t shy about voicing unpopular and offensive statements.
Around a year ago, Tlaib made the explosive claim that Israel has an “apartheid government” that isn’t consistent with “progressive values.”
She joined with other Squad members in boycotting Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s speech to Congress and released a statement with Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) that again referred to the Middle Eastern state long regarded as an American ally by elites in both parties as “an apartheid state.”
That didn’t sit well with several Democrat leaders in the House.
At the time, now ex-Congresswoman Elaine Luria (D-VA), and Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Jerry Nadler (D-NY), and Ritchie Torres (D-NY) all condemned her remarks.
Now her actions are speaking more than her words.
Tlaib once again tells us who she really is
Tlaib is scheduled to speak at a conference for the United States Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR).
This group has reportedly helped to bankroll the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) National Committee.
USCPR has a history of undermining Israel’s efforts to combat terrorism within its borders.
The BDS Committee includes groups that have been designated by the United States as terrorist groups and include Popular Front, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Palestinian Liberation Front according to the US State Department.
President Morton Klein of the Zionist Organization of America told the Washington Examiner, “It is anti-American and even treasonous for Tlaib to speak at a USCPR conference that falsely condemns America as an ‘imperialist,’ and aims to ‘mobilize action’ against America, Israel, Jews, and Jews on American college campuses. The leadership of the Democratic Party should publicly condemn Rashida Tlaib and demand she not speak at this anti-American, anti-semitic conference.”
A familiar pattern of radicalism
Tlaib’s extremism seems to be her calling card, as new evidence emerges frequently.
In May, Israel Representative to the United Nations Gilad Erdan called out the Congresswoman for her social media post stating, “the apartheid state of Israel was born out of violence and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.”
Erdan said, “[Tlaib’s] ignorance and hatred toward the Jewish people and the state of Israel know no bounds.”
Every time Tlaib sides with America’s enemies she creates political headaches for Democrats at a time when Joe Biden’s popularity and Congressional approval are near all-time lows.
The USCPR Conference where Tlaib is scheduled to speak is slated to take place Oct. 27-29 in Houston, Texas.
