Whenever you hear some oddball policy being debated or implemented in the news, there’s a good chance it has roots in the formerly Golden State.
Whether it’s allowing thieves to rob the local CVS with hardly a slap on the wrist – so long as the take doesn’t reach quadruple figures, or housing the drug-addicted homeless next to everyday and paying Americans in hotel rooms, California Democrats have, charitably, a unique worldview.
But now, the Disney villain look-alike just endorsed a death cult in California.
California’s latest loony idea to combat so-called climate change may as well be enshrining a literal green death cult into law.
Because apparently he has nothing more important to do, despite all of California’s problems, Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law allowing the practice of composting dead human beings.
The bill will give people the option to give their dead remains over to a process known as natural organic reduction (NOR) if they choose not to be buried or cremated.
Death cult to fight “climate change”
It’s all purportedly being done as a way of stopping the supposed “most pressing issue of our times: climate change.”
The Daily Mail reports, “The process involves placing the body inside a long, reusable steel container along with wood chips and flowers to aerate it – allowing microbes and bacteria to break down the remains. One month later, the remains will fully decompose and be turned into soil.”
Cremation accounts for 360,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year and clearly California Democrats have made the calculation that forcing everyone to drive electric cars by 2035 isn’t alone going to be enough to stave off the certain disaster that will kill everyone tomorrow that leftists have been warning about for 40 years.
Cristina Garcia is a Democrat Assemblywoman who authored the bill and wrote, “With climate change and sea-level rise as very real threats to our environment, this is an alternative method of final disposition that won’t contribute emissions into our atmosphere. I look forward to continuing my legacy to fight for clean air by using my reduced remains to plant a tree.”
Thankfully, the bill will make it illegal to combine human remains without permission or unless the two are related.
It will also be illegal to sell the soil or use it for agricultural purposes.
California Catholics rising up over composting the dead likely doesn’t include zombie Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
Not everyone is crazy about the idea, including many in the Catholic Church
Kathleen Domingo, executive director of the California Catholic Conference, says, “NOR uses essentially the same process as a home gardening composting system. These methods of disposal were used to lessen the possibility of disease being transmitted by the dead carcass. Using these same methods for the ‘transformation’ of human remains can create an unfortunate spiritual, emotional and psychological distancing from the deceased.”
But with the state scarcely able to power homes and businesses because of purposeful mismanagement and homeless encampments sprouting up in every major city next to syringes issued by the government is it any wonder that this policy in the name of stopping climate change (spoiler alert: can’t be done, especially when India and China just don’t care) is garnering the attention of elected officials?
There’s a reason people are leaving California in droves and it’s simply that it has become an unserious state governed by unserious people.
Sadly, that doesn’t look to be changing any time soon.
