There is nothing the American Left hates more than American energy, more specifically American oil and gas.

Stopping domestic oil production and transporting has become one of their top priorities, and consumers are paying the price.

And now, Gavin Newsom is jumping through hoops to kill America’s energy industry.

California Democrats are doing everything in their power to make gas and energy more expensive

In California and other Democrat-controlled sections of the country, gas and energy prices are through the roof.

This is a direct result of these states’ anti-American energy policies and taxes which have driven up the cost of gas and energy to previously unthinkable levels.

California has some of the highest gas prices in the nation, and it looks like they are about to get much higher if Gavin Newsom gets his way.

That is because California Democrats are convening in a special session right now specifically designed to target oil producers.

Without delay, Gavin Newsom and his cronies in Sacramento proposed a windfall tax on oil companies that they think are making too much money.

In a tweet sent out by Governor Gavin Newsom, Newsom claimed “Crude oil prices are down. Oil industry profits are up. Yet… gas prices in CA have increased by record amounts. It doesn’t add up. We’re calling for a windfall tax so these profits go back to Californians paying for this oil company’s extortion.”

But here’s the catch, according to California law, a new tax requires a 2/3 vote for passage whereas a penalty does not.

So with that in mind, Democrats quickly altered their radical proposal to define the windfall tax as a windfall “penalty”.

This proves that Democrats in California do not have confidence that they can muster 2/3s of the votes needed to pass this radical new tax.

Even Gavin Newsom knows that this war on American energy producers could cause some serious backlash from consumers as well as from oil companies, who have already promised lawsuits over the proposal.

Attacking American energy producers is the last thing consumers need right now

When it comes to American energy policy, energy independence is essential.

Not only is energy independence best for American consumers, but it is integral for national security.

More often than not, hostel actors will target infrastructure such as the energy supply before they actually lob any bombs, and protecting Americans from a threat like this is essential.

Unfortunately, Democrats could not care less about these facts about national security, and would rather play woke games than protect American lives.

As far as California is concerned, hopefully, enough concerned citizens will be able to convince their elected officials to oppose this ridiculous tax.

If this bill passes, then gas and energy prices will get even higher for Californians who are being punished with high prices by their government.
