Gavin Newsom is boiling with rage after these store owners were caught on camera fighting back

Retail theft in particular has exploded in nearly every American city and community following the death of George Floyd in 2020.

Businesses, and the people they employ, are suffering as a result with many storefronts closing by the day.

And now Gavin Newsom is boiling with rage after these store owners were caught on camera fighting back.

Out-of-control retail theft has caused irreparable harm to thousands of businesses

Following the death of George Floyd in 2020, crime spiked all across the nation.

Retail theft in particular has risen, especially a form of robbery called “smash and grab” robberies.

“Smash and grabs” entails a mob of individuals running into a business and smashing display cases, grabbing whatever they can, before leaving all in a matter of mere minutes.

Last Saturday, Meza’s Jewelry on Main Street in El Monte, California became one of the latest stores to experience one of these smash-and-grabs.

According to Fox11 Los Angeles, at 2:30 PM last Saturday, a masked man entered Meza’s jewelry with an empty box.

The masked suspect then gassed the store with bear mace, before entering and smashing display cases with a hammer.

Without delay, the family that owns the store jumped into action, attacking the suspect, and eventually wrestling him to the ground.

The suspect then slithered out of the hold by taking his shirt off, and to this day remains at large, albeit without any stolen merchandise.

The press spoke to the store owners, questioning whether their actions were warranted.

The owners replied, “We worked so much for it.  We used to work day and night – and just to have someone to come and grab your stuff – it’s not fair.”

A similar smash-and-grab recently occurred, this time a successful robbery, in Pasadena at a jewelry store known as Jewels on Lake.

The owner, Samuel Babikian, told Fox 11 “I don’t know what I would do tomorrow morning. I don’t know if I should come to the store.”

He added, “I don’t know, I really don’t know what I am going to be doing because this was my life, this is the place that gave food to my family.”

Smash and grabs have destroyed thousands of jobs and businesses

Many on the Left often choose to ignore smash-and-grab robberies and things of the sort, because acknowledging them would undermine their narratives about crime.

As a direct result of the Left’s tolerance for crime, people feel more emboldened to steal than at any other time in recent memory.

Stores are closing down all across America, and the thousands of jobs they provide are coming to an end as well.

These closures have a horrific impact on the economy, which seems to show more warning signs by the day.
